I am trying to install CubeCart onto my GoDaddy UNIX server hosting account. I have been trying and trying to change the pear/tmp permission to "777" - as instructed in the CubeCart Installation instructions - but I keep getting "denied" when trying to change the permission. (Note, I primarily use FileZilla FTP, but I tried it also using CuteFTP (CHMOD) and it still didn't work).

Has anyone else had this problem - What is the solution ... as I cannot proceed past Step 2 until I get this permission changed.

Thanks,

I have had a similar problem on my cpanel linux. I somehow corrupted the file name by saving it with a space. I would try renaming it and creating another /tmp folder, and move the index.htm from my local file into it. If you cannot rename it, then this would indicate that it is corrupt and you can create another in the same directory.. one /tmp will be unrecognizable and one /tmp will function properly.. this works for me .. might be worth a try...

I tried re-uploading/overwriting the files from my local folder - same result.

I am not sure how to create a new file because I don't know what is in the original file to begin with (I'm not a programer).

I just cannot figure out why this one file won't let me change the permission.
Could it be something that has to do with the particular UNIX serv4er at GoDaddy?

Again, this seems to be the one thing preventing me from installing CubeCart.

When I tried to take a look at the index.htm file that is giving me trouble, here is what came up . . .

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
<title>CubeCart&trade; Directory Listing Denied</title>
</head>

<body>
This directory is private and its contents cannot be listed.
</body>
</html>

This doesn't even make sense to me. How would/could I create a new file and/or change things so that I could get the CHMOD to work to the settings I want?

With the help of the GoDaddy Techs we were both able to finally figure out the problem.
(I actually had them stumped for a while too).

What I was doing (because the installation instructions weren't altogether clear) was trying to change the permissions of the index.html file WITHIN the tmp folder - when all I had to do was change the permissions for the tmp folder itself. (I didn't think one could change the permissions for a folder, just particular files).

Anyway, problem solved and I'm off and running . . . until the next problem crops up, of course. wink.gif
