This is normal with SSL enabled in the admin section. The above test is done BEFORE SSL is enabled to check the installation. Turn it off and then try it. Check this post for more info on the test procedure and an explaination as to why the shared SSL is causing issues

Your cart is working fine. It's the shared SSL certificate causing the problem. It is signed and looks good but I have read many posts about issues with CC shared SSL. You can double click the padlock in IE and read all the details of your certificate. Maybe GoDaddy can help you.

Actually it is working, it uses the https:url when shoping cart is accessed rather than when the site is accessed. I suspect this is the way it's supposed to work?

Correct, the https is only used on certain sections of the site, cart, customer account, login, register etc etc.
