I'd like to know if there is anyway to batch the add product process…

- take all the images from a folder and name the new products with the images files names and "generic" item specifications (price, weight, taxes, …).

- or create a XML file with images files locations and products specifications for each one, and then run a kind of routine to batch the import process ?

You can import using CSV files using phpMyAdmin.
There is a tutorial on this on the web google;
import your inventory from csv cubecart

This is fine for the rare import - as its a few stages, and will require a little bit of fiddling with your CSV file.

If you're not happy playing with SQL statements, there is also a 3rd party CSV mod which will do this - see the 3rd Party mod sections for information.
