Can this be done through CC Admin?

Yep. In Admin > General Settings - GD Settings - 'Thumbnail size'

Note that you only put in one measurement - this is of your longest side - the shorter side will be automatically calculated as a fixed aspect ratio so that the image will not look stretched or squished...

I tried that last night didn't seem to work...thumb nails stayed the same. The thumbnail setting was 75 with Max Image Size set at 500.

I tried changing thumbnail size both up and down but nothing worked.

I better contact the site designers and see if they can get around it.

You cannot change the size of current thumbails through the Admin, only future ones. To change the current ones you will have to download them and resize them manually.

I'll go and try it out now.

You can also reupload those images thru cubecart and it will remake the thumbnail - just be sure to change the filename slightly like imageb.jpg instead of image.jpg.
