I've read a few forums and the guide on how to switch over. I've even copied over an entire new installation file. I keep getting the following error:

The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.

I'm a bit frustrated and might be over looking something simple. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

Thank you.

I'm assuming you mean you transferred it to a new hosting company? Are you sure the new host meets all of cubecarts running requirements?

It has php, mysql. I'll check the requirements to see. Do I need to set CHMOD on any files before starting the installation? When I install them on my server at home it works perfectly. I'm running xammp on a winxp file server. I did transfer to a new hosting company but checked to verify only php and mysql.

Thanks.

So I checked the specs on both sides, CC3 states it needs PHP scripting support (gd for auto sizing) and 1x MySQL database.

I use POWWEB, i don't know if anyone else uses it or knows if it wont work.
Here's my serve info from powweb:
cgi: active
frontpage extensions: no
Platform type: debian
mysql version: 5.0.45
perl version: 5.8.8
php version: 4.4.7

Can anyone tell me if this should be compatible? Thanks.

Looking at their website it 'should' be compatible but each server differs in setup to another. I would recommend you pop over to cubecartforums.org where you will find hosting companies dedicated to CubeCart.

If your host has fantastico in their cp, install cubecart, if it works then it cubecart friendly (if it has cubecart in fantastico then it will work)

Your problem looks like permissions for your sql database are not the same as in global.inc.php of your website.

If the site you are migrating to the new host is ver 3.0.17 and you can install through fantastico then overinstall with your store back up making sure that global.inc.php was not overwritten and then drop the tables in the sql database and upload your back up.

I know its a long job, but it will work.

PS. If your host does not have fantastico do an upload of a fresh install ( this is what I do if the version you have is prior to the latest one and use that instead)
