I have had my site working quite nicely since 2006, but started to have some bugs occur so thought i would upgrade to 4.0 but cant because my server doesnt have ioncube, so i thought upgrading to 3.18 would be ok for now. I have uploaded said files and the admin side works fine, however the store redirects to cubecart - so does this mean my license has gone? How do i get my store back. I paid for my lincense key in 2006

It means that something went wrong during the upgrade. Upload all files again with the exception of /includes/global.in.php and /languages/langue/en/home.in.php

With regard to the upgrading / ioncube bit - The whole idea of ioncube is that you upload the relevant ioncube files yourself to give the server ioncube functionality. You don't need access to the server system files for this (Which you usually do with Zend), you simply upload them into the ioncube folder in your CC installation, and when CC needs to use ioncube for the license check, it uses those ioncube files you uploaded. Putting it another way - Everyone should be able to run ioncube, but not everyone can run Zend.
