  1. Hi Chris I havent looked in detail at that code and may take a look tomorrow as I am now interested myself. You do have a lot of products and I dont know many people that use that functionality at all. I do have one application that needs 256MB memory allocated to it but that is pretty exceptional and I would guess that there is a bit of bad coding here that has probably never been found because nobody has ever looked to export this number of products before. regards Ian
  2. Hi Good work finding this post - he only submitted it yesterday. It does explain why it is an intermittant problem but also could be causing a lot of missed sales. However it also shows that it isnt that difficult to fix. I will drop an email to the Cubecart team just in case they arent aware of this Regards Ian
  3. The problem is that you havent added the custom code to one of the files correctly. You will need to take a look at each file that you have changed and compare it to the instructions. regards Ian
  4. Hi Paul I havent heard of such a mod existing for CubeCart but you need to make the enquiry over at cubecartforums.org which is the commercial forum where you are likely to either find someone that has that already or who would be willing to write it for you Regards Ian
  5. Hi Chris This seems a common theme at the moment and is caused by the default PHP memory_limit setting being set too low by your hosting company. This is set globally for the server although a few hosting companies do allow you to change this for your own hosting account. If you arent allowed to change it yourself (you need to check with them) then it is very unlikely that they would change it globally across the server as it would then affect every hosted domain on the server. If you cant change it, then you will need to look for another hosting company that either has a higher server default limit or allows you to change it per domain - as we do !! What version of CubeCart are you running and how many products are in your store ? regards Ian Thanks for the reply, Ian. I am running Cubecart Version 4.3.0. I sell laptop adapters and I need to sell them by make & model of laptop so I have 21,141 products. Chris Hi Chris The number of products is going to be the problem then, coupled with the way that the catalogue export function works, it is using up the allocated memory for your website / domain even though this is double the normal default value of 32MB. Only solution is to find out if you are able to manually change it yourself or to move. Regards Ian
  6. There is an excellent shipping mod available via CubeCartForums. I have used it a few times on some of my clients shops and havent found anything it cant do yet ! regards Ian
  7. Hi Shane Dont know whether you have posted yet in CubeCartForums - I dont design skins myself but there are some excellent people in that forum that do. Just a small warning that you might not get much in the way of a custom skin for £150 though Good luck ! Ian
  8. Jannette If your current hosting company cannot provide a server with the latest php version on, then I would suggest that you seriously look to move. You are on such an old version of CubeCart that you are going to have lots of issues like this as well as known security issues and you are missing out on a lot of functionality upgrades as well. Trying to patch individual bugs like this may be possible but is likely to cause even more problems and be costly in terms of time and money. Regards Ian
  9. Hi I know this response was quite a few months ago but as I have just answered it in another thread, thought that I would give the same answer here as well. I dont know whether it is CubeCart using more memory for some of these functions or what. The cause of this is the value of the PHP memory_limit parameter as set by your hosting company (32MB is the usual default). This is set globally for the server although a few hosting companies do allow you to change this for your own hosting account. If you arent allowed to change it yourself (you need to check with them) then it is very unlikely that they would change it globally across the server as it would then affect every hosted domain on the server. If you cant change it, then you will have to either do without that functionality or look for another hosting company that either has a higher server default limit or allows you to change it per domain - as we do !! regards Ian

  11. Hi Matt Seems to work fine for me on IE8 and IE7 although the display doesnt work properly on IE6 or earlier. Also tested with FF3 and everything seems OK. Chrome works for the issues that you mention but your scrolling list of top brands doesnt work with this browser. It looks like you have a variety of browser related issues across a few different browsers that you need to look at but I couldnt reproduce any of the errors that you are reporting with the browser versions that I have Regards Ian
  12. Thanks Ian, I just checked the version of PHP on the web server and it is PHP Version 5.2.8-pl2-gentoo I must admit Cubecart is starting to give me a headache, I have never battled like this to set something as simple as an e-commerce site up before, I thought this would be easy for my client to use once I have set it up but am worried that wont be the case It seems that the filter module isnt installed in the version of php on that server, which it should be as standard above 5.2.0. Unless you have shell access to the server, you cant check this yourself though. Cubecart is generally a very easy product to install and upgrade but you do have to have a compatible hosting environment ! Best wishes Ian
  13. Chris Did you get your site back up and running OK ? If you had taken a backup of all of the files and the database as well, then restoring all of the files back and also restoring the database backup would have put you back where you started. You could then modify the modded files as you suggested to achieve the upgrade regards Ian
  14. I personally agree but it is horses for courses. They are generally cheap (although never as cheap as they first appear, there are always other costs down the line) but you get what you pay for. Cheap hosting equals no help with installation and no post-installation support which some hosting companies build into their packages and as said previously, massively overloaded servers. Take a quick look through these forums at the number of people having problems either with installing or upgrading what is a well designed and a relatively easy to install product like CubeCart and then take a look at which hosting companies they are with. If you are serious about wanting an E-Commerce website it is going to take a lot of time and effort on your part to stand any chance - why handicap yourself right from the start ! Ian
  15. Hi Jannette Ideally you should be looking to upgrade as that is a very old version of CubeCart but you obviously may have mods installed and would also need to get the latest version of php installed as already mentioned. However, in order to get this working again for you, what changes have you made in the last few days - something has obviously changed in order for this to suddenly stop working Regards Ian
  16. Hi This means that you are both on a hosting environment that doesnt support php 5.2.0 which is needed for latest versions of CubeCart You can check the php-version by creating a simple php file with the following in it, then call the file directly from your browser. <?php phpinfo(); ?> You need your hosting company to upgrade the version of php on your server (unlikely to happen !) to contact a hosting company that supports this as standard !! Contact me if you need further help Ian
  17. Not sure which mod you bought but I think the postage side of CubeCart is one of the poorest areas within an otherwise great product. Almost every site I install for clients I install a great postage mod called "All in One Shipping" which is written by a third party company and details can be found by searching in google or over at the commercial forums. Regards Ian
  18. Hi John The product authors do sometimes come onto these forums and also sometimes answer questions, however they are primarily provided as a way for customers to interact. Purchasing a V4 licence would get you access to technical support from the authors as part of the package (30 days for a Full licence) after that additional support would need to purchased. I personally always recommend my clients purchase the V4 licence - it has a huge amount of additional functionality over V3. You dont actually say what your current problem with shipping is Regards Ian
  19. What is the url to your store and what skin are you using ? Regards Ian (havenswift-hosting)
  20. Hi Dave Do you really mean that you want to move the latest products to the right hand column ? Or do you mean the random product. If you do actually mean the latest products, then that is part of the {PAGE_CONTENT} and as well as moving that tag, you will need to make more coding changes regards ian
  21. What settings do have for the SEO in the General Settings section. While of course you shouldnt ignore your keywords, you need to look at the rest of your SEO work more urgently than the keywords as these are hardly used by any of the search engines. Title & description tags along with good page content is massively more important than what keywords you are using. One quick tip : The first thing I always say to clients when I do SEO work for them on CubeCart, is pay for the copyright removal licence as this takes up 1/3 of the available title tag Regards Ian
  22. What problems is this actually causing to your site ?
  23. IE7 is much better - you do still have some differences between IE7 and IE8 but minor
  24. Where are you getting this error ? Have you tried re-installaing back the backup that you took before doing the upgrade ? Regards Ian
  25. Hi I have not heard of this problem or of anyone else getting this. Do you have any mods installed on your store. If not then you could and should upgrade to the latest version. Regards Ian Havenswift-hosting
