In the help it states
Linked Account: Allows your admin account to be linked to an account on the front end. To add an account, just type in the name and the auto-search will list applicable account names.
Why I do not know.
Sorry, but what does this actually mean? Say I'm on 1&1.com and setup the cubecart I have a client that want's to explore the options and when I see this link to customer account option I'm wondering if I need to set this for him to see what he needs to browse as an admin and see all the features. This is basically a presales relationship with a client knowledgeable to set up his own store.....

I've just had a client ask me if we could integrate an existing Mail Chimp Account in to the "Subscription" interface.
It this possible or even desireable?Thank you in advance for you support.

Depends what you mean by "support" ? If you mean will it run on their servers then yes, CubeCart will run on most Linux based hosting servers. If you mean support as in technical support of CubeCart itself, then no they don't and as with most hosting companies, they won't care what CMS you are running and won't have any expertise or knowledge.
Not sure what you mean by "has anyone listed" ? What I can say is that we have migrated quite a lot of clients from 1&1 hosting - they, along with hostgator and godaddy are the three hosting companies that we migrate the most client's from.

Ok, I actually found it in your Apps and loaded up a test site. I'm working in it right now. Thank YOu so much for your response. Jim M.

Does 1&1.com support Cubecart?
Has anyone listed 1&1.com as a hosting service?
