I'm not a big fan of Times New Roman text. I really don't like the top banner above the menu, the text is far too big, not really designed for lower resolution screens (800x600) ... I bet you created it on high resolution screen? I've seen that template style on a lot of sites recently. I clicked on the Online Presentation, and it tried to get me to install an ActiveX control.... umm no thanks and no chance. It's not wise to have a live Powerpoint presentation (even the HTML output) on the site, looks tacky. In the presentation, where's the menu option to return to the shop? Surely you can integrate the content of the presentation onto HTML pages that look the same as the shop... or vice versa? A website should have one look, one design, and one navigation system (from a users perspective). Not one for each technology used. Just my opinion, and you did ask for feedback. I'm a stickler for making a site look like it's using one system to present it's information and services.
  2. To the end of the form that's submitted in 'transfer.inc.php'. Look for the other '<input type= etc etc' lines.
  3. I interpretted EH's reply to say he added it as a tax addition. Yes, probably a good move then. But I think CC needs a catch all tax group. I noticed that Brooky has one in the pipeline, as mentioned on one of his posts.
  4. Isn't that risky EH? what if a customer asks for your VAT number to claim it back?
  5. Thanks for your feedback Benny... I'm glad it's not just me missing something obvious.
  6. I assume then that no one else has come across this? Or it's not the problem I think it is? I've not received the info in the post yet, so I am not sure either way.
  7. Not exactly. Those 56k'ers are use to sites being a certain speed, yours will be no different if you use some graphics. As long as the first page is no larger than 100K, you'll be fine (Save the page and associated files with the browser to check how big the page is). There are tricks to download the most important images first, this gives the impression the site is faster than it is. Also make the images as efficient as possible, photos as JPGs, other graphics as GIF (test different graphics with different image formats to compare sizes). You'll be surprised what you can get away with :D
  8. Well... I hate capital text and flashing luminous graphics! Reminds me of a car boot sale There are no pictures on the front page, so you've lost me already Too much text on the front page, and that nice xmas banner should be at the top, not the bottom!!! It's the nicest thing on the front page. And the search 'Go' button is completely out of sync with the rest of the site's colour scheme. Well, you did ask! LOL! :D
  9. I've just got off the phone to the UK's HM Revenue & Customs regarding the sale of digital media and tax implications. What a minefield!!! From my research on their website, and speaking to the adviser it seems CubeCart may have to make some additions to the account system, or payment system. This applies to VAT registered businesses, selling digital products. I'll summarise what I've learnt... 1. Digital goods supplied online are categorised as services. As such are taxable according to the tax laws of the country in which the customer resides. This creates a problem to start with as CC assigns tax within each product. I've not checked this, so could be wrong, but CC does not use the shipping information when selling digital products therefore cannot restrict the countries in which to sell? So the best solution is to price it with inclusive tax and take a chance your accountant or bookkeeper knows his stuff? not sure on that one... which leads me to the second point. 2. Selling outside of the EU. Tax is only applicable to businesses outside of the EU (don't quote me, I need to do more research on that one!). Tax is not applicable for digital products when sold to consumers. From my brief discussion with the Revenue and Customs, I need to know whether the purchase is for business or home use at the point of sale, to know whether to charge tax. Is anyone else UK based, selling digital products and is VAT registered? I would really appreciate some feedback on this. The HM Revenue & Customs are sending me some more information, including a flow chart . Is it worth considering an 'All countries' catch all tax area?

    Criticism Please

Very nice. I agree with EvilHomer, white text on yellow not easy to read. The reason for the slow download is probably the small pictures at the bottom... for the physical size of images, the file sizes are huge. Each picture should be about 2k, but they are actually 25K each! sort this out, and the site will become lightning speed!

    New skin

Nice and colourful. Three pointers though... 1. On lower screen resolutions the top menu splits onto two lines... although it does not break the design it does look a little strange. 2. On the left, the dutch "View Basket" text in the Shopping Basket section, the text continues onto two lines, resulting in the text lines overlapping. 3. On the cart page, the layout goes a little strange, with the search box hiding behind the top menu and login dialogs etc. But a part from that, and the odd missing graphic, quite nice :)

    New CC3 Skin

    Looks very nice. :)
  13. I have to say the menu text font (and section text font) on the left is fairly difficult to read. I've always used text menus because they do much more for the site for usability and SEO than using graphics.

    Plated Steel Skin

The design doesn't work with the boxes being all different sizes (widths), the font being Times New Roman, and the background being completely white. Sorry, I think it's horrible. :)

    Heres my site..

Very nice.... but I would recommend using JPG image format for the graphics in the header where the majority is photographic. And avoid using any graphics when you can get away with just changing the colour of the background. You'll find the site loads much faster.
  16. I wouldn't say the stretchy graphic works very well. It degrades the quality quite a lot.
  17. Solved my own problem... LOL... adding this line to the PayPal Standard IPN file 'transfer.inc.php' will override the IPN and auto return settings in the PayPal profile settings. <input type='hidden' name='notify_url' value='http://www.domain.com/modules/gateway/PayPal/ipn.php' /> <input type='hidden' name='return' value='http://www.domain.com/confirmed.php' />"; Now I can have multiple carts to the same PayPal account. Nice. :P
  18. As I now have two stores which need to point to the same PayPal account, I've been reading up on IPN and setting it in the payment form rather than using the PayPal profile. Has anyone else got this working? According to the PayPal Order Management Guide, and the PayPal Developer Network, I need to add the following line to the form, which I assume is the 'modules/gateway/PayPal/transfer.inc.php' file. <input type='hidden' name='notify_url' value='http://www.domain.com/modules/gateway/PayPal/ipn.php' />"; This, apparently, overrides the profile details. However, it still returns to the wrong domain after the transaction. Even removing the other domain from the PayPal profile, returns to the wrong domain.... which leads me to think it's some sort of cacheing issue somewhere. I've added that line to the end of the form that is posted in the transfer.inc.php (under the 'upload' line). There was also mention of it requiring a secret shared key, but not sure. Do I need to add anything else to the notify_url line? Thanks for any feedback/suggestions.
  19. Thanks Cezz, for the perfect mod :)
  20. Hello all. All my products I've added as UK pounds (UK pounds set to default currency), and submitted to Froogle. And by doing so it is only listed in Google.co.uk Froogle. After asking Google why it's not listed in Google.com Froogle, they said it's because the currency is not in US Dollars. (Since when was .com a US only domain???) Anyway, that aside for another time, they have created another feed for addition to Google.com Froogle listing, but has to be listed in USD. So how can I change the currency output (converted equivalent) from the Froogle link in CC? By default it outputs the figure that is in the table I would assume. Might a suggestion be to put it through the currency calculation first? probably not that straight forward to do, or is it? Brooky? The 'View products' page in admin does do the calculation to the correct currency when the default currency is changed, so not impossible, the 'stuff' is there already. I think I will need to do a search and replace to get it to the currect currency. Anyone have an suggestions?
  21. I think that is a little harsh.
  22. Wow, that is very nice... now I'm jealous! You like MODx then? :on2long:
  23. Thank you for your kind words :on2long:
  24. A new CC site... This website came about as a result of both business and a hobby. I'm always looking for good photos for use on websites I develop, both closeups as well as backgrounds. I've always taken the photos myself, and after buying a new digital camera for the business, I thought I would try to get artistic. Someone suggested that I should sell some of the nicer photos, so this site was born. There are not many newer photos in there so far, but over time they will be added. I have quite a backlog. Here it is... www.DeveloperPhotos.com Hope you like the site... it's actually the first site I've created which is only the cart, not a CMS integrated add-on.
