Could be 100's of things... You need to provide more info... (URL, Payment Gateway) Jason
  2. 2000 Categories - phew! I'm on ~300 for a store I'm working on. Before you go too far down that route - will OSC be better? I'm not experienced in OSC, so can't answer that. You would be better off asking in an OSC forum if there is a CC>OSC conversion tool as that is your target platform. If you get no joy, you should be able to to a CSV export of the category tables in both carts, remap the field data, and import as csv for OSC. That should get you pretty close.. If you're sure OSC will be fine, its probably worth paying someone to do the conversion for you (more so if you want to bring over customers/orders etc) Jason edit: Just read the history on the link. It sounds like you need some kind of AJAX based category selector in the admin>add product page. Not sure how many levels you have, but [top level] [2nd level] [3rd level] would probably help. Unless OSC has a different system of assigning categories to products, you'll also have the same problem there. Jason
  3. Hi Hayley, you actually need the order status to show "processing". The PayPal IPN module should set the status to processing once payment is received. I've not really got PayPal IPN working, so that completed payments work - this is on 4 different servers. There is a fairly long post a year or so ago which has a fix which works great for me - I apply it to all my stores. However, its fairly involved... Search for PayPal PDT in these forums, the fix is spread over a few posts. Jason

Add a px after the 600? 600px; You'll need to provide a url - are you sure you've edited the correct skin file? Jason
  5. There is already a good Fedex mod for CC3, if you need it, I can confirm it works great. Visit cubecartforums.org for more info. Jason
  6. Why are you losing money - did you not test V4 on a spare/sub domain before running it on your live store? You've obviously had problems, and I guess lack of documentation may have helped. Regarding emails: - does "Tell a Friend" work? The email notification has a few interlocks, and obviously testing this will be slow for you, but the "Tell a Friend" feature will quickly test the email sending capabilities of the site/server. Start off with sever: localhost and everything else blank. I can see your problem with lack of direct support from CC Support. With CC3, I can fully see why they had to keep support for paying customers only. CC4 is a commercial product - you either go somewhere else at the end of the trial, or pay for the full product. Its still a fairly young product, so community support won't be as strong compared to the older CC3. I'm did read some info from Al about looking into providing pre-sales support for CC4 (I think!), so it could be worth a Moderator clarifying this point. I didn't want to post a "It works for me" post, (although it does), I hope you get things working soon. Jason
  7. Hi Terry, I've sent you a PM, as its a bit more complicated that I thought at first glance. The old phone number is in the top-header as an image. You will need your FTP details (or cPanel). If you don't have this, contact your hosting company. If you have ftp access, I can edit the header image and you can ftp it back - otherwise you'll need a bit more help. Don't post any passwords publicly, but its a very quick fix. Jason
  8. I suggest asking over at www.cubecartforums.org There are a few people that specialise in this as a service. Your other options are exporting the data as CSV, and re-importing into CC3 - and unless you're sql savvy, you'll have problems. Unlike CC3->CC4, there is not upgrade path (CC4 can import CC3 stores) Jason
  9. Heads up to any UK store owners, you've until Thursday to get your TAX return in. If you've not previously registered online, you'll have to do it the paper way. Also, if you've forgotten your Password and used their reminder service, it will take 2 hours to unblock the account if you've previously entered wrong info. Apparently this is automatic, so leave it 2 hours. The error messages are pretty rubbish, and leaving supporting information doesn't like pound signs.... Not good! Just trying to submit my TAX return.. Damm their site is slow on the submit page... I promise to get 2007-2008 done early, and not leave it so late next year.... Jason
  10. I think you've forgotten to list the URL. I'll post a few things to think about, but this problem could be down to lots of things.. When did the site go live? What other promotion have you done? Google etc will crawl the site slowly to start with. My advice (without seeing your URL) -Google Analytics (or another stats program - I like GA as you can share the results) -Google Product/Base feed from your site to google, its free and could drive lots of sales -Google Sitemap - ensure google is aware of each page on your store Seach for these terms on these forums, and also over at www.cubecartforums.org Post back in you don't understand anything once you've had a look. Don't do google adwords (I assume you mean a paid-for campaign, rather than ads on your store), until you've got a feel for base-line sales. Ask a friend to do a test purchase, and see if you've missed something. Once your site is working very well (use friend to verify this), and you can afford to spend some money, then proceed with your Adwords. If you're putting adwords ON your site, (ie 3rd party advertising), consider against it - do you really want potential customers visiting your competitors? Jason
  11. If you want to offer Shipping by price, and UPS, you can leave both enabled. Obviously, your customer will chose the cheapest, so you could be out of pocket. You'll find a documentation project over at cubecartforums.org which will be of help. This should cover most "manual" type questions. CubeCart *should* have a userguide, but it would never cover everyones needs in exactly the same way CC will not be a perfect fit for all stores with out some tweaking. Jason
  12. Hi Simon, I've seen some javascript code which simply writes the email link via code. Bots won't be able to run javascript on each page they read, and so it will keep your address out of their databases. You could also escape the string, but this would be easier to decode the page below will provide both solutions. http://www.diplo.co.uk/design/encode.php The downside to the js soloution, is that Javascript must be enabled.. With Cubecart (which requires Javascript to purchase products) its less of an issue, but with more flexible sites, you could be excluding some people. A nice solution would be a <no script> section, showing an image with your email address, if Javascript is disabled. A contact form is not the same as a published email address, the following page on OutLaw.com may help; http://www.out-law.com/page-7594 I can't find an official gov.uk url but its probably on the DTI site. Jason
  13. Hi, To set file/directory permissions, you'll either need to use a control panel (Plesk etc, if your hosting package comes with one), or ask your hosting provider to do it. You'll probably find you need to change /images/uploads and /images/uploads/thumbs to allow you to upload images. If you don't have a strong reason for using Windows hosting, you'll find your life much easier by using Linux based hosting, this will be of comparable price and often cheaper. Jason
  14. Hi Simon, I echo what Stevie's comments. The skin you're using is pretty ugly. For £0 (yes.. FREE)-£40+ you can get a professional skin which will really show off your store. Take a good look at competitors stores. I'd suggest printing them out and chatting over a coffee with a friend, its easier to mark up likes/dislikes. Lose the 3rd party links/adverts. Running adverts on your OWN products/deals is good, but why do you want people to leave your site? The terms and conditions are not really complete. -What is your refund policy (remember the distance selling act!) -How are items shipped? -How do I return faulty goods? -If you're a Ltd company, you should be listing your registrations number from companies house. If you are not Ltd (ie Sole Trader/Partnership etc) then you need to remove the Ltd from your site. Beef up the privacy policy. -Why is your site using cookies? -Do you pass my details on to 3rd parties for shipping purposes (drop shipping?) Reading back the above, I think my best advice is to check out your competitors, and work out the differences. Spending a night in a pub, or over a coffee to discuss what you'd need to compete will be time well spent. The wordy bits (T&C/Privacy) can be fairly generic, providing you agree to adhere to them. Not many people will actually read the full T&C, but its important you have something better than you currently use. On the positive side, you've got a good range of products, and you're just starting out on getting away from ebay :-) If you're successful at ebay, you'll know it takes time to get things running well. Going back to the presentation (because its one of the most important things!), you can modify one of the existing skins (just pick another one to Killer!), www.cubecartforums.org has lots of free and commercial skins, and most are very easy to install. Best wishes, Jason
  15. Hi Joe, Don't be such a tightwad, upgrade your hosting account <grin> Interesting question though, but as Al (and others) don't put too many comments in the code, there isn't much space to be saved. If you're not using any sideboxes (languages, newsletter etc), then you could remove the .tpl file from the Skin and the corresponding .inc.php from /includes/boxes You'll also need to take it from the index.php in the root of the site. Any shipping/payment modules not required can also be removed. The Rich Text editor in /admin takes up quite a bit of space, mainly due to extra language files, and the source code (the editor is compressed javascript, but ships with the source code) I can't think of anything else really. You may shave a few hundred bytes by optimising the css used in the skin and the admin section. I usually take out the modules, languages, but once you've added a few products, all that space saving goes... Jason
  16. Hi Dan, there is an "all in one" shipping module that may work for you. google "all in one shipping module cubecart" If this won't fit, ask over at cubecartforums.org - if there isn't anything that will fit, you may be able to find someone to code a module for you. Hope this helps, Jason
  17. Hi, Can you provide more information - which API? What is the page URL, and are there any other error messages? Jason
  18. Scroll to the top of this page and click on the "Downloads" link. You'll need to be signed-in to download the code. You *should* be able to download your store as a backup file in which case, ask the new host to restore it for you? Jason

    Mysql Error

There were problems on early V4 releases of mySQL, and this could also be a server problem. View the server info from CubeCart Admin, and see what version of mySQL you're running - if its old, you should see if it can be upgraded. Version 4.1.23 is the latest in the V4 products, and 5.1.22 is the latest production release for V5. Double check your mySQL ISO table, I assume you've not made any changes to it (mods or tweaks etc) If the table looks ok, speak to your host. The ISO table may just be a co-incidence, its not a large table and doesn't contain many fields. CubeCart has many queries that are much worse! I hope you get it sorted soon, Jason
  20. Hi, Yes- this is based on a thread last year. I gave up using IPN due to problems, and shyed away from this code changes, as it looked a bit daunting at first glance. http://www.cubecart.com/site/forums/index....showtopic=15202 Please read the thread through all the way through, there were some later tweaks (UK users get a different variable back from PayPal). I've successfully applied this on about 10 stores for various people, and once up and running, its great.. Refreshing the CC Admin Order page, shows it changing from Pending to Processing. If you get stuck on the location of the log file, open your global.inc.php file to find the location of the store root. Hope this helps, Jason

  22. Hi, I've had a few orders in the last day - some have been using PayPal IPN with PDT: [2007/Nov/18, 15:29:21] [2007/Nov/19, 15:29:21] Using PDT to check order status for tx:5W969097TE184904W [2007/Nov/19, 15:29:23] Verify Success [2007/Nov/19, 17:20:08] [2007/Nov/19, 17:20:08] Using PDT to check order status for tx:07M14196VD249484M [2007/Nov/19, 17:20:10] Verify Success I've just checked my previous logs and all appears fine. I've added some extra code to my PDT check, so if there is a verify failure, it lists the fields: logMsg ( "Verify Failed, Paypal response follows:" ); logMsg ( " Amount = " . $amount . "\tCubeCart DB = ".$result[0]['prod_total'] ); logMsg ( " Invoice = " . $invoiceId . "\tCubeCart DB = ".$result[0]['cart_order_id']); logMsg ( "Receiver Email = " . $receiver_email . "\tCubeCart DB = ".$module['email']); return FALSE; I can see some abandoned carts, where customers went off to PayPal but didn't pay, in this instance, I get: [2007/Nov/17, 13:23:45] Using PDT to check order status for tx:4XS917584C7018427 [2007/Nov/17, 13:23:45] Verify Failed, Paypal response follows: [2007/Nov/17, 13:23:45] Amount = 21.99 CubeCart DB = [2007/Nov/17, 13:23:45] Invoice = CubeCart DB = [2007/Nov/17, 13:23:45] Receiver Email = [email protected] CubeCart DB = [email protected] Not too sure if this helps, but I suppose it shows its not a global problem. I'd suggest running a few test purchases, and contacting PayPal. They are sometimes helpful.. Jason
  23. Hi, Glad the side box worked for you. I'm sorry, but the menu system is a bit beyond what can be covered here. A small tweak with a few lines of code is fine, but the instructions needed to get the JavaScript menu you want will be pretty large. I can't really spend the time trying to read the code and work out what is going on. From what I can see, its lots of Javascript which will really bog down your page. My advice on trying an off-the-shelf (or even custom) skin still stands, and you should be able to negotiate any menu effects with the designer. There is a nice CSS+Javascript mod which can do the "flyout" effect you've mentioned. I'd suggest this as something to look at. Google for: expanding categories cubecart If you've got lots of subcategories, its worth using, otherwise the standard CubeCart category listing is fine - especially if you customise with some CSS. There is a documentation project over at cubecartforums.org and I think you'll gain a better understanding of the system by reading that. I hope you understand - and I hope to see your store in the "Show Offs" section when its complete! Jason
  24. Very good Brivtech - very original :-) Jason
  25. The quick way to add a new box is to add the code under an existing box. Edit /skins/yourskin/styletemplates/global/index.tpl You'll see a few "tags", such as {CATEGORIES}{RANDOM_PROD}{POPULAR_PRODUCTS} etc. These tags are the boxes and other content. You can use HTML in the template file- (but not PHP). Add the following code where you want the "Contact" box to appear: <div class="boxTitleRight">Contact Information</div> <div class="boxContentRight"> Your HTML goes here. </div> Regarding your menu, you'll need to read up on CSS. The categories are basically an <ul><li>..</li><li>..</li></ul> list, so any CSS menu that works with lists will be fine. There are many examples online. It will be a case of editing the style used for the list. /skins/yourskin/styesheets/style.css I recommend visiting www.dynamicdrive.com for inspiration (google for css menu and you'll find lots of others!). Using CSS, you will have good control over the look of the menu, and things like image swaps, colour changes are possible without messing with Javascript/Flash. If you don't have the time to learn CSS, you really should ask over at www.cubecartforums.org for someone to do the work for you. You may also find a Skin (free or commercial) that has a nice menu. Jason
