Taxes being added after upgrade to 5.0.8
WhiteWillowStitching replied to techmistress's topic in Technical Help
I have just the opposite. Suddenly it isn't adding taxes at all. -
Resolved - Refund auto cancels order
WhiteWillowStitching replied to sparky5693's topic in Technical Help
Happens to me to and has ever since I upgraded from v4 to v5. I just email my customers letting them know I'm about to issue a refund through Paypal and that my software is buggy and will send them a cancelation notice and to ignore it. Works every time except when I forget to email a customer first which is rare after having my butt chewed a few times. -
How's 5.0.8 working for you?
WhiteWillowStitching replied to Dirty Butter's topic in Install & Upgrade Support
I have to agree with Al! Not one problem since I upgraded to .8. Trust me I hold my breath every time an this is the first I that I haven't had a problem with. Not brave enough to try .9 yet after seeing some have problems but eventually those will get worked out too I'm sure. -
Google Missing Product Type Values
WhiteWillowStitching replied to scythe000's topic in Technical Help
I found the least headache causing way to do this was to export the catalog in google base format than paste it all into a spread sheet and make my changes then paste it back into the txt format and upload it manually to google. It was a bit of work at first but now takes me about 5 minutes to do once a month after I add new products. I also need a manufacture part number vs ISBN, EAN, JAN or UPC. Using the spread sheet also allows for quick changes, quick new additions, and format changes so that I can use it for feeds other than Google as well. -
Huge issues with adding new products after upgade
WhiteWillowStitching replied to a topic in Technical Help
I remember having this problem ugrading from V4. The fix for me was to put in all the info under every tab then do the picture last and hit save. If I didn't do the picture last no data was saved. After a few days of this I gave up and started from a fresh install. The database changes are just too different between previous versions and v5 though I know there is a way to make it work. I've been on v5 since August of last year and am currently running 5.0.6 and can say I still have problems with adding new orders or product, heck have trouble changing a pending transaction to processing as well but it comes and goes. One day it all works fine and the next it doesn't. That is what is the most frustrating. -
How's 5.0.8 working for you?
WhiteWillowStitching replied to Dirty Butter's topic in Install & Upgrade Support
I haven't upgraded since 5.0.6 so I'm of no help. Just checking in to see how it is going as well. .7 had too many issues for my liking.I will probably do the upgrade next weekend. I have a trade show starting tomorrow and now is not the time for me to be dealing with new errors. Will post once I do the upgrade and let you know how it goes. -
Paypal Checkout not displaying details and price
WhiteWillowStitching replied to a topic in Technical Help
I've tried to get a fix for this as well. I had no problems with my old v3 or v4 store but with v5 every paypal order comes through with just the order number as the item sold, not the actual items sold. -
Payment through bank account/cash on delivery
WhiteWillowStitching replied to romank's topic in Technical Help
If your shipping prices vary on size/weight why not use the weight and zones to set up shipping? As for the check out being a problem, have you tried just setting it to print and mail in the order form? Sounds like the right combination based on the info you are giving. -
Anyone else having AMEX problems?
WhiteWillowStitching replied to WhiteWillowStitching's topic in Technical Help
I reported this bug months ago after posting here. I was told it would be fixed in the 5.0.7 release. I can't tell you if it has or hasn't because I'm still running 5.0.6. I'd upgrade to .7 but honestly I'm not ready or willing to deal with any new bugs that may arrise yet. Jamie -
Should I accept Paypal for Credit Card Payments?
WhiteWillowStitching replied to a topic in Technical Help
Paypal total fees to process credit cards through them are 30.00 a month 2.9%+ 0.30 per transaction. You can process all 4 major cards You won't need Authorize.net anymore Customers won't have to leave your site if you collect the credit card info and process them manually. With the auto processing, then yes, they will leave the site and go to Paypal. I've never had a chargeback so I don't know if there are fees involved though Paypal's customer service can answer that. I will say I've heard they won't fight for you at all. They are quick to hand the money back over in the case of a chargeback. I've been using Paypal since they first opened, processed credit cards using the virtual terminal since it was first made available and I've never once had a problem. As for being cheaper it all depens on how much money you are processing. Paypal's 30.00 a month is cheaper than what you pay monthly for Authorize.net. The question is will you process enough in credit cards to make Authorize.net's lower percentage save you more money than Paypal's 2.9%. I processed 24k through Paypal's Virtual terminal last year and it was still A LOT cheaper than Authorize.net would have been with their higher monthly fees. I admit I still prefer money orders. No money lost due to processing fees lol. Jamie -
Going from a V3 to a V5 may be a bit of a nightmare. I know from V4 to V5 was. DO NOT FORGET TO BACK UP YOUR DATABASE and double check it first! Honestly I'd do a fresh install. I've not heard one person say their upgrade went well due to the difference in codings. This is why I'd do it as a fresh install instead of an upgrade. Something to think about is that V5 is unlike any of the previous versions. This WILL cause you to lose your SEO standings. I had my V4 store for years and was at the top of many of the search engine pages relating to my industry. V5 caused me to lose all of those and I've been battling since August to get those back. It is slow going so do it at a slow time of year. I've been at it since August of 2011. I still have many bugs but the bells and whistles of v5, once they all work right, can't be matched without paying a LOT more for the few carts that are compairable. Jamie

I find that just leaving off the country code from the shipping zone makes it impossible for customers in that country to order. There are only a few I refuse to ship to. Italy is one I debate taking off my shipping zone list. Italy is notorious for workers going on strike to take the day off. I find shipping anything there is really hit or miss. Amazing how many packages I've had going to Italy get lost. Jamie

Admin => Inventory => Import Products => Images
WhiteWillowStitching replied to JulesInFrance's topic in Technical Help
Have you tried doing it the long way using image manager to import the images instead of using FTP? I know FTP is much faster but I ran into the same problem early on and admitted defeat and just use the image manager to create the subfiles and upload images to those subfiles. I know it is the long way around but it is the only way I can get V5.0.6 to see the picture files. -
I miss my v4 at times. I had all my bugs worked out in it and someday will have all the bugs worked out in v5 but I have to admit I'm sticking with 5.0.6 for right now even though it has a CVV2 issue on Amex. I'm sorry you are having trouble with the double screens. Maybe go back to 5.0.6 where the phone number and cvv2 number is the biggest issue? Jamie
-
mrchoz I felt the same way until just recently. I'm finally down to only a few bugs still being a problem. It is getting better with each update. I ran v4 for many years but it too had problems when it first came out, though not as many.

How to Turn OFF Admin Timeout?
WhiteWillowStitching replied to Dirty Butter's topic in Technical Help
I agree it would be nice to not have to log in every time I blink. -
Packaging weight should be the tare or weight of your standard box if you use the same size box each time. I leave mine blank because I use so many different packing supplies. Since you want to set a weight for UK only your first zone is UK, then a handling cost if you want one and under 1st class would be where you want to put 2:240,100:5.95 If you have more than one way to ship across the UK, for example in the USA you can go first class mail, then a long list of others like priority mail, parcel post, media mail, you would use the second class as an optional postage rate if you want your customer to be able to choose between the two options. If you only use one type of shipping and don't want your customers to have a choice leave 2nd class blank. Hope this helps Jamie

That is a huge help in understanding where the problem starts. Now if only phone numbers had letters in them lol. Seems like a silly mistake but I guess when writing pages and pages of code something like that can slip through. I'll make sure I mention it when I put in a help ticket for this and my American Express issue. Jamie
-
Before I submit a bug report or help ticket I thought I'd ask first. Anyone else having problems with American Express? My 5.0.6 will not allow a customer to put in the 4 digit CVV2#. It tells them it has to be 3 and I of course end up having to contact the customer only to find them a little frustrated. Jamie
-
Thanks to a great customer I found out why I've had some of the same issues reported. I don't know if it is for all of them, but this customer, who is also a programmer, has found a glitch in the phone number entry. If not put in just the way the cart wants it, the cart is reloading the page blank again until it is done in the format the cart wants. Sure enough when I tested it he was right. I had no idea because I have tested so many times I've just been letting my auto fill do it. If that is the page you are getting hung up on then it isn't just me! Jamie My customer explained it better. I'm tired and realized my post was clear as mud. He says "(1) If you enter a valid phone number without punctuation, e.g. 1234567890, the submission fails and kicks you back to an identical page without displaying any error messages. It was a matter of trial and error trying to figure out what it didn't accept (and whether the page was even functional)." Jamie

Issue Adding new product
WhiteWillowStitching replied to [email protected]'s topic in Technical Help
5.0.6 fixed this problem for me. If it is still giving you headaches I'd first try uploading all the files again to make sure there was no file that didn't overwrite the first time and then put in a help ticket. As for the star and check mark just keep clicking on the image, sometimes i get star first, sometimes check mark first, just click until you get a star (meaning main image) or check mark (meaning optional image) as you want them to be. 5.0.6 fixed a lot of bug issues for me, created a new one but Al & crew got it all straight so several problems down a few more to go. Have you made sure they are set as allowed shipping zones? Jamie
