Saving comments to customers

When I complete an order, I add comments to the customer in their invoice, including a manually entered tracking number. Is there a way to LOG these or have it so that if I click on the order again, it remains in the box, like the Admin Notes above it does???

If not, there should be a feature for that... :(

Actually, I had done this for myself for v2 CC but haven't gotten around to it for v3 yet. I'll see if i can get a chance and will post it if I do.

Basically if anyone else wants to work on it, I copied the admin comments box code, changed the field name to a field I added in the database. I also had this box visible to customers when they logged in and viewed their order.
