Help! I just activated SSL within general settings in cubecart and it's just knackered my site. All I get to see now is page cannot be displayed. Is there a way I can reverse this by deleting a certain file and uploading one from the upgrade zip file. I really don't want to have to start all over again. :(:errm: ;)

Copy the following to notepad and save as editconf.php. Upload to your root directory and call it http://www.yoursite/editconf.php. Make the changes you want (as in turning off ssl) follow the directions in the file. Make sure to delete the file when finished:

Phew Thank you!

Don't think I want to turn that on again. I presume if I have a SSL on my domain I don't really need to turn it on anyway do I?

This just savedmy guts...

I wanted to check what happens if i tuned it on, becouse my host supports SSL.

I turned it on, was trying to make another change and kept on getting errors... i searched here and hey, it works :)

If you want to use SSL in CubeCart on some pages preconfigured to be SSL accesible only, you do.

You are able to test the proper CubeCart SSL settings without SSL setting "YES" - just use https instead of http in browser bar and browse your store, try to do any order. If CubeCart detects the SSL it uses the CubeCart SSL setting instead of its status.

This works with dedicated certificate. It works with shared one too but the same URL convention as dedicated have. (The URL difference is in 's' /http vs https/ only) definitely. However it should work with any SSL I think.

ssl is very simple but it's the configuration in your admin control panel that bollicks it up for most folks. If you must do ssl (and I recommend it for all stores for customer trust) do not do a shared ssl and have your host install the certificate. In most cases it will cost an extra $30.00 or so per year and well worth it. In your admin control panel under General Settings/Directories & Folders the entry that most people mess up is: Root SECURE Public HTML Folder to store:

In most cases this entry will be / and the Absolute SECURE URL to store: https://your domain.com.

If you are unsure just ask your host.
