I purchased the PAP 3 and need their installation (as they stated Installation is free) andI am new to it.

NO REPLY from them?!

Bad service!

I've heard similar reports from other users of that software from time to time, especially over the last 6 months. They used to be excellent in their customer service, but seem to have fallen down recently.

Installation isn't really difficult, although there are a lot of configuration options afterwards that can be confusing sometimes.

The basic install, however, is pretty straightforward - upload the files and run the installation script. The only thing you have to do outside of that is to have a MySQL database ready to receive the tables.

If you want to PM me, I can probably help get you going.

I'll need FTP access to your site and the connection details for your MySQL database.

I can also recommend an excellent resource for extended script support.

Alan please check ur PM...

I place here if you not receive it....The message:

Alan, Thank you very much for your reply.

In fact I only get little response from them after I 'make noise' on their forum.

I face problem with few matters here...

Clicks tracking?

Banner links in new style/old style? MUST I have banner in order to use the software?

Where do I place the tracking ? It said between body...body in index.php file????

But I do not see <BODY> in my index.php???

I am confuse on the way of affiliate works...

As my concern, if someone with No 123 send his ref URLhttp://www.101moneymakingebooks.com/....a_aid=123 to his friend to register or purchase products, will he get commisssion? Will his friend become his ref if he register using his URL??

And regarding Intergration part:

Shopping cart integration (Sales/leads tracking)

What should I use in Integration method

I also see this message:

<script id="pap_x2s6df8d" src="http://www.101moneymakingebooks.com/affiliate/scripts/sale.js" type="text/javascript"></script>

<script type="text/javascript"><!--

var TotalCost="XXXXXX.XX";

var OrderID="XXXXXX";

var ProductID="XXXXXX";

papSale();

....where the values XXXXXX should be replaced with correct values for:

TotalCost (mandatory for % commissions) - price of the product

OrderID (optional) - can be your unique generated order ID to cross-check the sale.

ProductID (optional) - the ID of the product bought.

How do I know the xxxxxx???

Do I need to use this option:

Force choosing commission by product ID

Thanks in advanced...

One more question....how do we set up "Payout method formats"?? And I have egold in my payment option...

Well, it looks like you've got the software installed, so now you're looking at the many configuration options. The main thing to realize here is that PAP offers a world of options for just about any kind of affiliate program, so there will be more options available than what you need. There will be many options that you won't have to mess with.

Before we can really look at what options you need to set, we have to start with a description of the type of affiliate program you want to offer. Do you want to offer commissions as a percentage of sales? Would you rather offer a fixed commission for each sale (like $20)? Do you want to offer to pay for clicks to your website, like with a PPC search engine? (This would mean that your affiliates earn something like 10 cents for each click they generate for your website.) Do you want to set up a MLM scheme with 10 levels of affiliates? Do you want to set up a 'matrix' structure for your program (a type of MLM deal)?

Once you can define the type of affiliate program you want to create, then we can look at what configuration options you need to set to create it.

You can find a lot of helpful information in the online user's manual for the software, which is at:

http://www.qualityunit.com/help

The pages take a long time to load, so you'll have to be patient, but the information is very useful. The Frequently asked questions page answers at least 2 of the questions you've just posed.

For some of your other questions:

Banners - you don't have to use them. Lots of affiliates love them because they load them up and forget about them.

Click Tracking - I've described this in detail elsewhere in this forum, just do a search.

Sales (Shopping Cart) Integration - Use the integration module I created and listed on the cubecart.org site - it's free.

Payout methods are separate from your payment gateways in CC. The payout methods are how you choose to pay your affiliates. I use the PayPal and check methods only. There's information in the online help (link above) about setting up other methods.

I think you already understand the basics of an affiliate program.

Yes, when an affiliate with referrer ID '123' promotes your site using their affiliate link (http://www.yoursite.com/.........&a_aid=123), anyone who clicks that link (or banner) will be tracked according to the settings you enter into PAP's configuration panel. Most people will have a cookie stored on their computer that indicates when they clicked the link and which affiliate gets credit. Others will have their IP address stored in your database if their browser won't accept the cookie.

This is assuming that you've set everything up correctly, of course.

Then when a sale is made, the sale tracking script checks to see if the customer has an affiliate cookie or if their IP address is stored in the database. If so, then the referring affiliate gets whatever commission you've defined in the configuration settings.

And when someone signs up as an affiliate, the software also checks if there is a cookie or an IP address to award the referring affiliate with the signup. You can choose whether the referring affiliate gets paid for the new affiliate, and/or if the new affiliate is placed under the referring affiliate as a subaffiliate.

Define the type of affiliate program you want to offer, then read over the online user's manual, and get back with me if you have questions not answered there.

Alan, I am reading your post here:

This question really belongs on the QualityUnit forum as it is a question about how to use the affiliate software, but here's the information.

Once you have PAP installed and working on it's own, and have set all of your configuration options the way you want them, the Integration Wizard will give you the code you need to add to the CC global index.tpl file.

The link to the Integration Wizard is the 2nd link in the Tools menu on the left of the screen, near the bottom.

After you click that, you'll see a page with 3 steps. Step one is there in case you want to rename the variables identifying which affiliate and which banner the referral is coming from. Only change these is you have no previous affiliates with established promotional links. If you're just setting things up, you can change these to whatever you want.

Step two is to set up the click tracking, which you need to set up separately from the CC integration module I created. Click the Step 2 link and you'll see a page asking you which URL style you want to use, a place to indicate what URL goes to the "main site", and a textbox where you can copy the tracking code. Set the first 2 to whatever is right for your situation and then copy the code in the final textbox.

Now, just paste that code somewhere in the global index.tpl file between the Body tags.

Step 3 of the Integration wizard is not needed when using the CC integration module freely available at cubecart.org.

I found that if I use your cubecart.org module, the step 3 is not necessary anymore. Does it mean your script will do the same as in "Intergration Wizard"? I am confuse if your module will do the calculation and give comission to upline base of referral Total Purchase? Say, I offer comission 10% (one level ONLY)

I am running an digitally downloadable store, I am giving fees (to avaoid confusion,I will have 1 level ONLY) to members who refer others. That is 10% (for all products). If I have already download and installed your module, do I still need to create "Campaign"? If I still need "Campaign", how many of those "campaign' should I have?

Another question here is, if B is buying under A's URL/link,A shall get a 10% comission from Total Amount of B purchased. Am I right? And what about B come back again (B not register as affiliate,B come as normal slient) after 6 month and do another purchase, will A still get 10% comissison? I know that if B registered as affiliate under A, A will still get 10% of whatever B purchase, even after 1 year or 5 year. But what if B come back as normal client by typing my URL http://www.domain.com (NOT A's ref URL)

And I will have few banners, proably 468pixel, and 720pixel. Where should I upload them to? And what is the new style and old style of the banner link mean for?????

Finally Alan, how do you create and link Affiliate Buttons on yor main page?

Thanks in advanced for helping so much :(

Today I encounter another problem...

I tried to sign myself as affiliate, and after completed the form, I saw the message "Thank you for joining..."

I didn't get anything include my user and pass and did not receive any mail....anything wrong here???

Edit: I actually received them, but it takes sometime more than 10 minutes or so.

May I know if I can give the log in info to new affiliate in "postsignup.php" page, by pass the confirmation email? (as I am using automatic approval for all new affiliates)

I think you need to step back and think things though one step at a time.

First off, the integration module doesn't do any of the commission calculations. All it does is to 'integrate' the 2 software packages so that they work together. All of the affiliate functions, including commission calculations are handled in the affiliate software, in this case PAP.

If you take the time to read though the posts that I've made here on this forum and the online help manual for Post Affiliate Pro, you'll find the answers to most of your questions.

Quite frankly, I'm in the middle of a large project and can't take the time to answer questions that have already been answered. Please take the time to read what's already available.

Alan, sorry for taking your time, but the true is PAP/Quality Unit never borded to support their clients!!!

I am having tons of problem since my purchased of the software. It seem to be only use by expert but not newbie.

Of course I try to read through almost all stuff and posts which I can find, include the online manual: http://www.qualityunit/help....but I still cant solve my major problems:

I am using this URL as my affiliate Signup:

http://www.101moneymakingebooks.com/affili...ipts/signup.php

I see the 20% (in red color). I wish to know how do I change the 20% to others figure...I tried to change by changing my Commision under the "Campaigns", but the red figure still appear as 20%?! Where does it come from?

http://img413.imageshack.us/my.php?image=signuprb4.jpg

Secondly, if the affiliate advertise only his URL (example: http://www.101moneymakingebooks.com?a_aid=c4046eb5 , he is not using the code from the "Banners" section. What campaign will he get? Because as my concern, we have to assign campaign to the link (if we have more than 1 campaign) and what happen if the affiliate use only the URL (advertise through autosurf system)...? I tried from another PC to signup as affiliate using above URL, but no matter how many times I tried, the user was not register under above sponsor. I went to my admin panel and check on that user, and found the "Parent Referral" is non! What happen? I think it would also affected the sale from affiliates to their clients!!!

Thirdly, If I will have 2nd tier level comission, and I have also Top Performance Levels. I set the different performance levels according to total amount (Total Sale) for that month. Now, my question: Does the "TotalAmount" represent the amount generate by the his own purchase plus his own sale (to normal clients)plus 1st level affiliates plus 2nd level affiliates? Example, I am A and I have affiliate B and subaffiliate C. A also generate sale from non affiliation clients like D,E, F, G...So, the question here is whether the Total Amount is included sale /purchase from himself plus purchase from DEFG, sales generate from B, and sales generate from C?

Finally, though this is not most important but it happened! I tried to send mail through system, but it takes long time to deliver to my test mail box, and the last one not even receive! As same to the signup confirmation email, it takes sometime to deliver to mail box. May I know of I can let my new affiliate have all their log in info immediately in the "postsignup.php" page? (I am using Automatic Approval for all affiliate)

Alan, I am sure I cant find answer from wherever forums and online manual. I hope I can get ome more help please...

I just visited your example URL

http://www.101moneymakingebooks.com/?a_aid=c4046eb5

and found that you have not yet added the click tracking code from your PAP integration wizard. You need that to tag all incoming referrals.

As I mentioned above, take things one step at a time, read through the instructions that are already available to you, and you'll find the answers to your questions.

Oh?? How did you know that??

Did you mean the step 2 or step 3 in PAP3 Intergration Wizard?

When the click tracking is set up correctly, there will be one of two things in the HTML on the page, either

1) an image tag recording the affiliate referrer ID

or

2) a bit of javascript that does the same thing

Since there was neither on the page, you have not yet set up the click tracking correctly.

Looks like you've got the click tracking code on the page correctly.

I am using this URL as my affiliate Signup:

I had to do a bit of digging to find the source of the text you referred to here. It's in the administration screens. When you log in as a merchant, look at the bottom of the left-hand menu. The item that says "Affiliate signup" is where you can define the text that goes on the side of the signup form, as well as other settings that affect that page.

  • 2 months later...

A bit off topic ...but hey....DESPERATE!

OK...

CC is returning from PayPal fine....with this link:

http://mydomain.com/store/confirmed.php?tx...j1SR9lks%2bM%3d

I THINK that it looks good... has price and id etc...

But in the confirmed.php page, I get this....

<!-- begin PostAffiliatePro Affiliate Tracker -->

<img border='0' src='/affiliates/scripts/sale.php?TotalCost=0.00&OrderID=' width='0' height='0' />

<!-- end PostAffiliatePro Affiliate Tracker -->

No TOTAL transfers....this makes it impossible to pay a %...hmmmm NO order ID either....HMMMMM

Any clues??

Have tried the "fixes" out there....but still coming up short.

Now that you bring that up, I remember that I had to add a hack to retrieve the order ID when using PayPal.

I'll have to look that up for you. Kind of busy at the moment with other things.

In /includes/content/confirmed.inc.php, here is what I've added to retrieve the PayPal order data:

// 2. Include function which returns ture or false

$success = success();

// Added to retrieve PayPal order data

if($basket['gateway'] == "PayPal"){

	$result = $db->select("SELECT  cart_order_id, prod_total  FROM ".$glob['dbprefix']."CubeCart_order_sum WHERE sec_order_id = ".$db->mySQLSafe($_GET['tx']) );

	$basket['cart_order_id'] = $result[0]['cart_order_id'];

	$order[0]['prod_total'] = $result[0]['prod_total'];

	}

// end mod

$confirmation = new XTemplate ("skins/".$config['skinDir']."/styleTemplates/content/confirmed.tpl");

As you can see, the code gets added between the $success line and the new XTemplate line.

I've also added Sir William's PayPal IPN return Fix mod, which sets PayPal as the gateway when the tx and st variables are set.
