Guest
Hi Everyone Its been quite sometime since i've been here.... and sorry if i'm posting in the wrong section. I'm hoping someone here can give me an idea as to how i can get my website to show up in the first 5 pages of google? I think i'm using the correct tags/keywords - also i am using an seo mod v5.7. I have submitted my site to many listings and when i check my visitors in google analytics i'm only averaging about 300 to 400 visits p/mth. Your ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers Antz my site
vokf
my site Wow- nice site :-) Reading the code, I can see a whole lot of commented out HTML before you get to the product descriptions. I did read that search engines don't read the entire page, ie the only read the first few KB of HTML. If this is still the case, it could explain why you're not getting good results. Other than that, building quality links to your store, and promoting using Froogle will help. All of my initial sales came through Froogle, and its worthwhile looking into. Guest
Hi Jason Thanks for your reply. I know there is a whole bunch of stuff commented out... but i had quite a bit of help from a friend building that site and i sooo don't want to delete commented stuff out just in case i need it in the future. To be honest i haven't played around much with my files since its been up and running smoothly! Google analytics show that its picking up my website quite ok,,,, no problems there.... I think it has to do with the keywords i may be using.... therefore i'm not sure if there is some type of program that i can put the details of my website and it would spit out these keywords (most common ones)... I think i have high quality backlinks? I've been struggling trying to understand how it all works... i have a links page where i have added about 2 or 3 with a page ranking of 3 and two of pg ranking of 4..... I found that ppl with a high ranking are not interested in linking to my site unless i link to theirs, which is reasonable i think?? As for froogle,,,, i tried to understand it but not quite clear how it works..... i downloaded some software and then realised that i had no clue how to put transfer the data ie. products all in one hit instead of adding one at a time.... so i didn't end up doing it. If you have any ideas pls pls let me know. Thanks Antz :)
Guest tomal2k
Hi Antz, I know little about Froogle [thanks to all cc contributor out there] i'll explain a little from what i know. i hope it helps. i hope you have a google account [cause you must have a account in order to use this feature] 1. go to your view items and click on the froogle icon: --- 2. you log into your google account where you can see the google feature: click on google base then you should be able to see the google base feastures: click on bulk upload [because we've already download our bulk item inventory STEP 1] NOTE: THIS IMAGE HAS TWO OF MY ACCOUNT, GENERALLY YOU ONLY HAVE ONE ACCOUT TO START WITH, I'VE REQUESTED GOOGLE TO EXTEND IT AS I HAVE TWO STORE FOR EXAMPLE, ALTHOUGH I ONLY RUN ONE] then just upload the file you have downloaded earlier. now the google feed takes time to process the files so give it about couple of hours then the files are live to view. please fill in any gaps that i may have left [to other cc specialists]
Guest
antypants - Nice site, though you don't have any descriptive text on your site for search engines to find - all images - and no alt text that I saw even on those. A lot of search engines these days ignore meta tags and look for text on the site itself. You don't have any for them to find. The key to getting good listings in most search engines is key words on your site and relative links to your site, so those are the 2 areas I would focus on. Figure out what keywords you want, and write a good descriptive paragraph in the top part of your site using them and their variations as much as possible. Put the keywords in alt tags and anyplace else you can. And froogle is always good There is also productupload.live.com that is free (and if anyone knows any other free ones, please post them! Seems like all the other comparison shopping sites are pay per click).

Antz it seems they have encoded codes [file>view source]. don't know how google is recognising them. the site isn't working at this moment. so not sure if that is the reason or not. referring back to Mysty's suggestion; what i think you should do talk about your product on the front page as you do in the product view page. [maybe you can reduce the image dimension and put text on the front page. it is always very important to have description on your front page. your SEO score is very high, which is very good, but i don't see meta tag and description [found in ACP general setting] another way you can do some research: if you have cPanel! please post if you do have cPanel then i'll show a little trick *_*. Guest itrends
FYI everyone. Froogle no longer exists. It is officially called Google Product Search. So calling it Froogle is no longer valid etc :dizzy:
Robsta
FYI everyone. Froogle no longer exists. It is officially called Google Product Search. So calling it Froogle is no longer valid etc It changed from Froogle to Google Base several months ago, but the Froogle name is still used on the Google site. I'm wondering actually if Google split the Froogle concept into two, as both Froogle and Base are listed side by side in my Google account. Guest tomal2k
Ok, for those who have cPanel access, they can go to Web / Ftp Statistics > Awstats, you can see 'Connect to site from' [ for me i sell on eBay too and drive the traffic into my site by my shop banner], then you can see at 'Search Keyphrases' where you will see the key words used to look up search engine that drove some traffic into your site: now what you can do is use those key words to enrich your product page to greater the chances. also i keep close track of the day and time when the traffic is hitting my site. i would suggest to add "Where did u hear abou it' in reg or in the contact form so you have clean idea where are the visitor converting to customer from.
