vokf
Hi CubeCarters :-) The last few weeks I've been revamping "InspectOurGadgets". This was the 1st store I started with CubeCart, back in Nov 05. The store was looking very tired, and I've not had much free time, but I did want to revive the store for Christmas. http://www.inspectourgadgets.co.uk Main features of the Store: -Use of "monoslideshow" flash for product slideshow. My code generates a few random products into an XML feed for the slideshow to use, this changes per page. Monoslideshow is a commercial flash image viewer which looked a good investment. The alternative would have been some kind of AJAX gallery system (but I wanted the "Ken Burns" transition effect.) -News Items - added yesterday! A very nice system from Estelle. -CRON based XML datafeed import from supplier (also grabs remote images and imports into the store - all fully automatic) -Google Checkout/PayPal checkout buttons on Products, with postage price passed on to both. -Links to Social Bookmark sites on each page. I've tried to keep the CC mods to a minimum - the hard work was the XML import and the monoslideshow XML creation, but didn't require tweaks to the CC code, these are pretty much separate bits of code apart from skin integration. So far, orders have been good - and most purchases have been Google Checkout or PayPal checkout (both buttons on the product page). vokf
I love it, really clean design and the slideshow adds something extra. Well done Cheers Steve! The slideshow was fairly simple to integrate, but I've had to code some GD stuff to widen the product images (so I've got a padded, wide copy of each) The slideshow can also do a gallery view as well - I may use that for something.. Guest ed89
The social bookmarking links don't actually do anything other than link to those sites. If I clicked one I would expect it to bookmark the site for me, whereas in the situation where it doesn't, I would likely get distracted by the site and forget about the one which took me there! Other than that I very much like it. Nice clean design and easy to navigate. The flash showcasing products is pretty cool, too.
vokf
Hi, thanks for taking the time to give feedback. The social bookmarking link contain the current page URL - ignore the status bar. I basically found a script online which generated the code needed for this lot. If you don't have an account on any of these, you'd have to signup - I guess you're correct, its a bit distracting... If you've got a Digg etc account, and you're always logged in (via cookies etc), then it's pretty smooth. I'll see if I can "dig" out a CSS based thingy to hide the icons/links unless the visitor actually hovers/clicks on a "bookmarks" icon.
