I know there are multiple posts regarding this topic and i have been through the most of them.

I added the script to check my server's details and got the following info:

This program makes use of the Zend Scripting Language Engine:

Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright © 1998-2007 Zend Technologies

with Zend Extension Manager v1.2.0, Copyright © 2003-2006, by Zend Technologies

with Zend Optimizer v3.2.2, Copyright © 1998-2006, by Zend Technologies

So it should run v4 of cubecart no problem, does anyone have any ideas what the problem would be?

Should there be an issue if its on a subdomain (although i wouldn't have thought so)

My issue is that it doesn't work. Even though the server etc has all the features required and i have tried a fresh install, it still comes up with the same error screen "Zend Optimizer not installed", even though it recognises it during the install process where you select "auto, zend, ioncube" and i have tried both auto and zend but with no success.

ok update is that there must have been a problem with the way the subdomain/hosting account was setup. I think it was to do with the "extra security" feature my host provides. I added another subdomain without it and re-installed cc v4 and it worked no problem (its pretty cool btw now that i've got it working).
