As many of you are aware, CubeCart v4 reports home once every two weeks to verify your software license key is valid. This is a practise used by many commercial software systems.

The Problem:

In the unlikely event your store calls home during a period of cp.cubecart.com downtime like we had last week then your store admin control panel won't be accessible. This is completely inexcusable and we have taken action in an attempt to create 100% uptime regardless whether our website is up or not.

The Answer:

We have just finished setting up a new redundant software license server named leftovers.cubecart.net which is completely independent of the cp.cubecart.net server in every way. It is even based in a completely different data centre geographically located in Dallas, a significant distance from the master server in Washington DC. We have also updated the encoded software license files admin_enc_zend.php and admin_enc_ion.php so that if for some reason the master server is down your site will call home to this redundant server. It is exceptionally unlikely that both these servers will be down at the same time and as a result we are sure that your store will always be able to report home. Your store will only have this redundancy if those encoded files are updated.

These new encoded files have been attached to this post and also available in the next CubeCart-4.2.3 release which is due for release in the next few weeks.
