Hi All,

Our site is nearing a point where we're happy with the content and the look and feel.

http://www.hampertown.com/

Our big challenge now is getting on the search engines and this is going very slowly!

Any tips welcomed!

Looking forward to your comments.

Best regards,

Jeff @ HamperTown

It looks very nice, good work. You have an issue in IE6 though, on the category pages the product listings start at the end of the left column. Same with the product details pages, the content starts at the end of the left column.

Hi Robsta,

Thanks for the heads up. The issue has been resolved.

Looks nice though at least in Firefox, you image on your homepage is too wide and covers half of the view basket box.

Hi Jeff

I like the simplicity of your site - it is clean and easy to read.

However, as far as your SEO and page ranking is concerned, you unfortunately have a very long way to go. You have a google Page Rank of zero as far as I can see across the board and there are so many things that you could do to improve your search engine positioning, I'm not sure where to start ! lol

There are some simple things that you can do ;

1) Pay for the copyright removal - at the moment (Powered by CubeCart) takes up more than half of your title and appears on every single page. Getting a good title tag is vital to positioning and ensuring that it is unique and as descriptive as possible will have the biggest effect

2) Dont call all your products the same or similar thing - Handmade Cards being a case in point. With the way that standard SEO works in CubeCart this is also a big no-no

If you sorted those two things out, you would be part the way there but there are so many other things that could be done. It comes down to time and money !

Good luck

Ian

Hi,

Your coming up No1 for a search on Google for 'Hamper Town' which is a great start as one of the top 'Hamper' websites in the world has the words 'Hamper' and 'Town' in their URL and are major Keywords for them so I would say your on the right road.

Do you have many Backlinks out there on Google ranked sites? Or well ranked 'hamper related' sites?

What serach terms would you like to do well on?

Declan

Thank you so much for the feedback guys - very much appreciated.

We've finally removed the copyright notice! Been meaning to do that for ages.

Another change we have implemented is to re-jig the code so that the product descriptions are closer to the top of the HTML documents (using CSS).

We still have a lot of work to do on the product names and descriptions but we'll keep at it!

Best wishes,

Jeff @ Hamper Town
