Guest
Hi, We've been running our site off cubecart version 3 and now want to upgrade to version 4. I've upgarded my database and sql to the correct versions etc beforehand. I get the following error message whenever I either upgrade my site or install as new (something I've tried on a seperate site incase there was something wrong with my shops site), the error is: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/36/d120821620/htdocs/wee/ini.inc.php on line 210 I'm reluctant to go into this file and amend anything as I figure that there shouldn't be anything wrong with it as it's freshly downloaded from Cubecart site. However, neither myself nor my father, who runs a few cubecart sites for various customers, can work out why this error is occuring to be able to fix it. I know it's probably something really simple but my brains mashed at the moment trying to work it out and I'm hoping some fresh experts eyes might be able to help. Please help!!! mrsc2009
Ausy
Have you run the compat test to make sure you are using php5?

Guest CybaGirl
I am getting this exact same error in ini.inc.php on line 210 anyone know what is going on? Ok I ran the compat-test.php and it says that I am running version 4.4.9 of PHP and that above version 5 of PHP is required. However when I log into my control panel it says that I am running version 5.2.8 of PHP! So something is wrong with the install script and the compat-test.php. Anyone have a fix or knows what is going on? BTW I installed version 3 of CubeCart last night and it never had this issue.

If the compat-test is saying your not running php5 then I tend to believe it, CC3 will run on php 4, thats why you have no issue. Have a word with your hosting provider and ask them if you are definitely using php5 or is there something else you need to do to use it. Some hosting requires you to enable it or use htaccess to enable it as they run both versions.
Guest CybaGirl
Ok just had it sorted out .. As you said Ausy the script was right and my my control panel was telling fibs ... The problem was resolved by changing the version on my account using the .htaccess file. So its all good and now I am off to install version 4 . Hope this information helps others. Guest Brivtech
The other thing to watch out for that doesn't affect CC3 is making sure you upload the files in binary mode - Really, this affects a couple of files for the ioncube/zend license checking scripts, but catches a lot of people out who are either upgrading, or installing from fresh. Guest
OK I've upgraded my php to 5.2 and CC4 has let me upgrade my site but then when I've deleted the setup file like the instructions after the upgrade tell me I still get the same error as my original post. This is getting incredibly frustrating can anyone please shed some light as to why this is annoyingly still not working??? Thanks
