What are the multiple Core files for?

Hi Guys and Girls,

I was browsing through my web files and notice a large amount of files that start with core. in /public_html. this maybe a stupid question......but what are they? ( By now you have probably gathered i'm no php genius )

I seem to have 43 files that are approx 91 MB each!!!!

Any explaination would be appreciated :-)

I am not aware of any such files in CC3. You should speak with your host.

You should look at those files asap, somebody could be using your server for there own purposes and disgusing the files, compare your files to the downloaded installed ones and delete any thing that should not be there.

Many thanks for your help. I contacted the host who deleted the files quoting:

"The core files are usually created when the process tries to access invalid memory location due to improper coding. And the resulting core dump is the information of the memory registers and the stack pointer." WHATEVER THAT IS!! :)
