Guest dmorris
A colleague has deleted the active store directory and doesnt have a recent back-up. What we do have is a backup of the sql. Whats the easiest way to get the store back up and running. I know I will have to redo the templates etc but I need access to order history, products etc. My host has v3 available, the store we were using was v4 and I have downloaded the latest v4. Please help.
vokf
Providing there are no modifications that have added/altered the database, this should be fairly straight forward. Firstly, check with the host that there are no back-ups you can use. If all the files have been deleted, you will have lost the product images. If some files remain, run an account backup before starting - you may need some files later, and these may be overwitten. I would suggest installing CC4 (ie, get it up and running), then use myPHPAdmin to overwrite the database with your backup. This should be fairly quick and painless. Jason Thanks for you help. when uploading a new cc4 to /store I get Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/sites/people-projects.co.uk/public_html/store/ini.inc.php on line 207 What is this a symptom of? There were modifications, a couple of extra modules such as associated items etc, should I install these to a new cc4 before attempting the database. Regarding the database how do I do this? The sql data still exists in its entirety on my host's server and when creating it the host create a username/password for it. If I upload and run cc4 should I set the username/password the same as the original or will changing this in the global work? I have a donwload of this sql too, do I import the original sql to the new cc4 sql tables?

Change your PHP version to 5. It is probably set to PHP4 As for the other problem, everybody's store set up is slightly different. I had a problem with the subscription for my host, just ceasing for some reason, without me knowing and my host closed the site I was working on, losing it and the database. To cut a long story short, I had backed up my store and database, but I use a shared SSL. This changed from web117 to web124 and when I created a new database it always made one with the prefix web124. I had to leave it like that and change the database name in includes/global.inc.php from what it was in the restored file to the new database name. I then imported the database backup into the new database and all was Ok. I just then had to edit my SSL settings in the Admin panel. In your case, I would firstly backup your database, then install CubeCart, using the database name & password of your database. Install the mods you had on your store then import the backed up database over-writing the other. I'm not 100% if the installation will affect your original database, losing some, or all of the tables etc in there. Perhaps someone else might know that could correct me? You could maybe check it before importing the back up and if there's things missing, overwrite it. Another idea would be to make a new database during set-up. Install the mods, open up the new database in MyPHPAdmin and import the backup of the old database. Good luck!! Lee
