Suddenly got this strange error when updating the home.php page...

Permissions are correct and there is nothing preventing access as far as I can tell...

Any suggestions?

The error message is misleading.

What is (probably) happening is that your hosting provider has some sort of safe mode module enabled for Apache and in the Apache .htaccess file are the filtering rules. The rules that your provider has installed is hitting on a false positive on the editor contents that are being sent back to the server from your browser (form fields).

I can't tell you what rule is hitting on the false positive as that is the business of the hosting provider.

Copy the source code version of your homepage content from the editor's editing window into a text file, zip it up, and attach it to an email sent to tech support of your hosting provider. Ask them to identify what rule is activated based on this content and to please change/delete the rule.

It's been working just fine with suphp, suhosin and mod_security for several years, but not it suddenly stopped working. There are no .htaccess rules interfering. Any other ideas?

Yes, when you said, "Suddenly got this error...", that would imply things were going good until your hosting provider did something, you did something to your hosted space, or you tried to make CC do something different than previous actions.

I recall this problem by others because content (from the FCKeditor, not that it matters) had taken on a different vocabulary: foreign characters, trigger words, etc. that had never been used before.

What is CMC and what were the rules that hit on the false positive? - for future reference.
