It has had an enormous amount of testing and we would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who has been actively involved. What is a release candidate? The term release candidate (RC) refers to a version with potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless fatal bugs emerge. In this stage of product stabilization, all product features have been designed, coded and tested through one or more beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug. Can I buy CubeCart v5 now? This version is still not available to purchase. However it can be downloaded at no cost from the beta microsite where there is a temporary software license key that will work for everyone. http://beta.cubecart.com. On release of CubeCart 5.0.0 final the temporary license key will be disabled and it will be possible to purchase a full software license key from our website or upgrade your existing v4 key. The software license key can be changed from either the general settings section of the stores admin control panel or from any software license error screens you may be presented with. How much with CubeCart v5 Cost? Pricing can be found here: http://beta.cubecart.com/#cost Can I upgrade to v5 from v4 or v3? Yes. Upgrade instructions can be found in the docs/UPGRADE.txt file of the zipped package to update your store from v3 or v4 to v5. It will also be possible to upgrade your v4 software license key to v5 once the final milestone has been reached. Is it true that v3 is being discontinued on the final release of v5? Yes. Version 3 will no longer be supported by our staff and it will not be available for download via our website anymore. No one is forcing you to upgrade. Your v3 store work indefinitely so long as it remains compatible with your web server software but of course we strongy recommend you to upgrade. What will happen to CubeCart v4? CubeCart v4 will be supported for 18 months from the final release of v5 and be available for download for 12 months. On purchase of CubeCart it will be possible to choose between using v4 or v5. Is 5.0.0 secure and ready to use in a live production store? We are confident that it is. It has passed McAfee Secure vunerability preneration testing scans however it does not have a PCA-DSS certification which is not needed with the vast majority of payment systems integrated. When will 5.0.0 Final be available? This depends is any sersious issues are uncovered in RC1 or maybe RC2. However it could be as soon as 7 - 10 working days.
