SEO friendly product urls

I want the product urls to be http://storename/custom-product-url.

But now that I've upgraded from 4.5 to 5.0.2 on a test site I get this monstrous url:

http://dirtybutter.com/test001/plush-animals-dirty-butter-plush-animal-shoppe/applause-and-dakin-plush-animals-dirty-butter-plush-animal-shoppe/applause-brown-bear-sweetheart-bear-holding-red-heart.html

I want something like this url:

http://dirtybutter.com/test001/applause-brown-bear-sweetheart-bear-holding-red-heart.html

This is the actual url on the live site:

http://dirtybutter.com/plushcatalog/applause-brown-bear-sweetheart-bear-holding-red-heart/prod_1850.html

How can I change the code to leave out the store and category names in v5.0.2??

Now that I've gone live I'm getting the long urls with categories and subcategories as well as the item title! And they do not go away when the store is live. HELP!!

Same here, I've had to go in and edit them one at a time for each item like I did to get the pictures to work. Sorry I don't have a better answer.

Oh and don't forget to redo your sitemap after the seo changes or you will get a bunch of errors!

My problem turned out to be caused by titles that were essentially identical, with a word change only at the end (titles were long and the end was not being picked up in the url), or with some that actually were identical. If you create a product listing on a live store, and the seo url is already in use - you get a warning and v5 creates a longer url to protect you from having 2 identical ones. BUT, if you upgrade, these "duplicate" urls are created automatically to be different.

I had to do some detective work with the error messages and manually fix the listings that had the long urls.
