What are views on your various CC stores to complie with the new EU directive that is about to put in place. This article below summarises some of the options.

Not sure if it something that the CC will/or can implement as part of their software?

The major date for your diary is May 26th 2012 when the law will be enforced in the UK. The

Information Commissioner’s Office will be the body responsible for monitoring the enforcement of

the law and has been consulting with the digital industry to ensure a robust, self-regulatory

framework is in place to address the main concerns of the law.

Well, after having a read into it, it seems to be more related to the storage of non essential cookies, like for analytics, advertising and otherwise tracking customers. Essential cookies like for shopping carts are apparently being made exempt, so it would likely be fine for CubeCart

A very stupid law, and will cause a lot of confusion and distrust of sites that now show a dialog IMHO. A ticket to Devellion directly will be the best course of action.

I looked at the ico site - and if that's what has to be done for compliance - stupid is not the word for it!! I'll put something on my Privacy-Security page about using Cookies to make the cart work properly, but beyond that I wouldn't have a clue what to say.

So I added this to my Security-Privacy document:

Our catalog, just like other shopping cart sites, creates Cookies on your computer to make the site work properly.

The ICO's current solution is inelegant but I'm sure not too difficult to implement?

Check in the Chat section of the third party forum. There's an extensive discussion about this, plus links to a v3 and v4 mod dealing with this, and indication of the likelihood that the next version of v5 will have it built in.

Will do; thanks. However as this software is published by a UK company am I being unreasonable in suggestion that the developer might write and therefore optimise and support the necessary feature, function or code?

I agree, but you have to remember that v3 is no longer being supported, and v4 support ends soon.

I totally agree that v3 & 4 are end-of-life and it's great that there's an after-life community writing add-on code for them.

My concern is only with v5.x
