Required Options Bypassed

Here are my store specifics:

CubeCart Version 5.2.2 PHP Version 5.3.15 MySQL Version 50168 Image folder size 2 MB Download folder size 0 Bytes Max. Upload filesize 2M Browser user-agent Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:21.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/21.0 Server Software Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) DAV/2 PHP/5.3.15 mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 mod_ssl/2.2.22 OpenSSL/0.9.8r

I am developing the cart on my local machine to get all of any issues resolved before going live online.

 

Using CC 5.1.5 when I attempted to add a product to my basket that had required options (shirt color and size) the item would not be added to the cart and the customer would be taken to the product page where a mandatory selection of options was imposed.  However, since upgrading to 5.2.2 I can add a product directly to my basket without first choosing any of the required options.  All of the items have the option set to "REQUIRED" for both the color and size (which are the only two options I am using at the moment.)

 

I have used the maintenance options to repair the database, optimize the database with no difference in the results.

 

I sent an email to support regarding this, but they would not offer any assistance because the store was not on a "public" server they could get to.  I realize this creates an issue with them not being able to get to the code directly, but I DO know how to modify code, I just don't know where to begin looking and some of the code is soooooo obtuse attempting to follow it is daunting.

 

I am struggling with several different, unrelated, issues trying to get a business started, and really don't have the hours necessary to sit and troubleshoot this.  So, if ANYONE has any idea about where and why this problem is occuring and most importantly - How to resolve it! - I would forever be grateful.....
