cicki
Hello, I'm helping a client in Australia who is hosted at Melbourne IT - and just got the message today that they don't support Zend or Ioncube. So - I work in Europe, so I am not familiar which hosting companies are recommended in Australia? Do someone have a good, reliable one to recommend? Thanks in advance! cicki

bsmither
This is not an answer to your question, but... Does the current host permit each account to have their own php.ini that allows for individualized PHP settings? If so, then in that php.ini config file, there can be the statement that loads the ionCube loader, and the loader can be placed in CubeCart's /ioncube/ folder. cicki
Thanks a lot both havensmith-hosting and bsmither! Interesting point bsmither - if they permit, that would be a great solution. Not sure they I'll have a quick answer from them, had to wait 2 weeks (and two relances) to finally get the actual answer! But worth a try. I'll also take a look at Havenswift hosting, looks great too. Thanks! cicki
havenswift-hosting
Most hosting companies these days provide ionCube compiled into php as that is by far the best way of providing it and having to wait two weeks for an answer doesnt bode well the future. It is also generally considered a security risk allowing local php.ini files so I would avoid hosting companies that allow this.
cicki
True that two weeks is not the best way (first time I experience such a long wait for support)! Maybe they want a local hosting for the support (even if I'm sure Havenswift Hosting support is great!) more near geographically. I'll talk with the client and see what will be the choice. /cicki
peterp
Hi cicki,I'm in Australia and we use MebourneIt for hosting multiple clients and have been able to install cubecart from ver 5.2 through to ver 5.2.4 without any problems. As far as support is concerned I have found that you need to get onto australian support if you can as it seems that all the other support centres don't know much technically.hope tis helpspeterp
cicki
Hi peterp, here is the answer I got from the support: Dear Christina, Please be advised that we do not support ION cube or Zend optimizer on our servers. We strongly recommend to find an alternative provider. Regarding any correspondence concerning this request, please quote the number below for our reference: CAS-xxx-xxx Regards, Xxxx eBusiness Specialist Support Melbourne IT Ltd But would be great to hear how you get it working! cicki
peterp
Hi Cicki, Sorry about the delay on replying to you I have had some other issues that need my immediate attention. Anyhow if you go to this website ( Regards, Peterp
Chargin
I use Netlogistics in Aus. If you have a managed vps the support is fantastic, very quick and they do a lot for you. I have a VPS that can have different php versions for each account which is really good too.
