Reluctant to use Mods

I am just thinking of the hassle of having to update mods when CubeCart is updated. Do the developers of mods normally update their mods in a timely fashion? And after a CubeCart update do they need to be reinstalled and reconfigured?

There are four kinds of mods: plug-ins, external, snippets, and code hacks. Any third-party package may have a combination of any of these.

 

But, if done right, and generally they are, plugins and snippets do not need to be re-installed. Unless otherwise absolutely necessary, I see that Devellion tries to keep the codebase backwards compatible. So, plugins and snippets should continue to function after an upgrade.

 

It may be necessary to make changes to the code. I've seen only one external mod.

 

I cannot speak to the timeliness of mod authors testing and keeping their products compatible with each new minor version of CC5.
