Any one having problems with there website v5 with trojans

Recommended Posts

Hi Fraser

If your website hosting is infected then it has nothing at all to do with Cubecart - it is more of a hosting issue so you should check with them first although depending on who your hosting company is and what you pay for it is unlikely that they will help (or if they do it will likely be chargeable)

CubeCart itself has no known security issues and infection of a website is almost certainly nothing to do with CubeCart software itself.

If you want to PM me on here or contact via our website then I will be able to help

I would very strong suggest that you close the website (put it in maintenance mode at least) until it can be cleaned as you risk infecting anyone visiting it

Thanks

Ian

We have not been infected but we run several things on our server to scan the system each day for possible infections, Trojans, malware, etc., which presumably your hosting provider should be doing periodically as well.

As Ian stated, definitely any issue with your site being compromised should be phone call to your hosting provider. Hopefully they can get that sorted for you quickly and determine what on their end allowed the intrusion.

This is also the good time to revisit all your own logins/passwords for your

1) hosting account

2) FTP account

3) CubeCart admin(s)

Make sure they are complex like zXCsgc97GSC97G#  and not "fluffy23" or something like that.

You will need to change all of them anyway if your system has been "hacked" at your account level.

If the hack happened at server level, or another client on same box was compromised and infected the whole box, you will still want to change ALL your account logins for your accounts once they clean up the system.

You would be amazed at how many hosting companies small and large dont take even the most basic security precautions let alone have daily virus / malware scanning as well as immediate file upload scanning / blocking software that stops a vast majority of malicious software from being uploaded !!

No further comments on here from the site owner (maybe they are busy trying to get their site sorted and I sympathise if that is the case) and their site is now giving either an Internal Server Error or still showing as infected !

We enforce strong passwords at each stage and also enable account login question and answers to further protect clients but it is simple to use password managers like LastPass to ensure that you have very strong and unique passwords for every single site you login into
