SEO and CCV5

Recommended Posts

Just updated to ccv5

Very happy with the result.

Some SEO issues with duplicate meta and all the links being do follow.

The links on the home page are do follow .

while this is fine for sales categories as I want them indexed by google.

For pages such as freight I don't want them indexed or the landing page power dilluted.

I now have pages like testimonials and freight appearing in the search.

In ccv3 I was able to change any link to a page to no follow.

I can't seem to find where to do this on v5.

Any ideas?

Having the best web site on the net is one thing.

Not a lot of point if you are not being found in a Google search

Many issues with duplicate meta descriptions and duplicate title tags .

The chances of getting slapped with a penalty from Google is high.

Together with no control of internal linking these issue makes Cube Cart V5 of no use to me.

Have to go find a workable site.

Two possible options:

1) In your Google Webmaster tools, you can TELL Google not to index or show certain pages in results.

2) OR, edit the store XML sitemap and specify what should be visible or not, then submit the sitemap to your Google Webmaster tools.

YES! An option per product under "search engines" to set meta data to 'NOINDEX" would be ideal.

Suggestion for future update!
