russell.huffer
Current version is 5.2.16 and I would like to upgrade but it all works as it should at the moment and I am very worried that if I upgrade I might have problems and suffer down time witch I can not afford to have, any advice or what ever much appreciated. Kind regards Russell.
bsmither
CC5216 is good store code. CC5217 has an important security fix, so review the issue as described here.
havenswift-hosting
Simply take a backup of the files and the database before doing the upgrade and then if there is something you dont like or that doesnt work, it can simply and quickly be rolled back. V6 is the way to go as it has responsive skins and is where all new development is taking place - V5 is not being developed any further Ian
russell.huffer
So do I just click the upgrade button in maintenance sit back and watch it all happen or will I need to do something else and if I do click the button and it fails is it easy to get back to where I was before attempting upgrade. Thanks Russell.
Dirty Butter
Backup all your files via ftp or cpanel. Backup your database.THEN you can try the upgrade, with an easy way to get back to 5.216. IF you must stay on 5216, then you must follow bsmither's advice to pick up the necessary files from 5217.
bubbaboss
Backup your Files and Folders and your Database. I upgraded from version 4 no problems to Version 6 Uploading New files to my site worked for me as the Auto-Upgrade won't work on the server i have. If things Go Wrong you can easily go back to your old files and database, and try again.
