Just Wondering

I'm not bothered about a percentage of mod sales. License keys don't make mega bucks but allow me the odd beer. Lets just allow everyone to get on some how.

Also it would be tricky to setup and enforce. ;)

I need to sleep on this... Keep suggestions coming although #1 priority is CubeCart 3 at the moment as far as I'm concerned. However I completely understand how CC3 is not even a consideration for you guys at the mo.

Actually - not so tricky...

I am getting close to completing a cubecart shop (with the help of jbdancer on a mod he is currently working on) that would allow something like this.

Anybody who sells mods for cubecart would have to sign up to this "Mod Shop" and they would become vendors. Mods would only be sold through this shop and could not be advertised anywhere else through these forums. ie- all advertised mods would be directed to the Mod Shop. The administrator of the Mod Shop could take a percentage cut from all sales (or nothing, if you don't want to) and when a customer buys the mods, everything is in a single cart rather than buying several mods from several different shops.

The only difficult part would be customer service. Each modder would still have to provide their own customer service for installation mod support, etc. I guess the easiest way would be to send an e-mail to the modder as soon as a product is purchased. Likewise, a readme file should be included with all mods, listing the contacts for the mod.

Anyway, just an idea...

But that still doesn't mean people will play fair. It would be up to the Mod Shop administrator whether the mod remains active or not, but that could be quite a bit of work for the administrator as well...

brooky.. isnt you agreement that a person *should* not mod their store if they have not paid for the cc lic?

i would be VERY willing to help you monitor this. I am trying to promote getting the lic with mods in my store.. and have already had a few people talking about doing that.. and intend on paying for these lic's once i receive the payments for the modded store... as you had agreed to even move their forums stats bars to red.. and get the lic key under their account for me.

I think that maybe you could even give us modders a $10 or so brake for 'selling' the idea on people that we deal with.. i mean. i know too many stores that are just trying to 'put it off' or whatever... and also letting them make one payment and get everything would help them out too.. and then i would just have to come and pay you here..

Tony~!

how the hell did I miss this thread? :P

Guess I was / am tired of discussions concerning mods.

My advice : play fair. Maybe I'm the last one who actually does not want to make a living out of cubecart.I joined for fun, helped members for fun, added mods for free. The only reason I have my modstore is to keep my misses calm and buy her this and that from the money I make.I find my competition in my "real life" my bakery and my wifes' store, maybe that is why I don't care about competition at Cubecart.

Be aware : there is more in life than a php-code competition :P
