Kentish Embroidery
The Custom SEO URL Path box auto populates with what Cubecart deems is a good path. In my case it's "sportswear/-international-rugby-shirt" Navigating to https://www.kentishembroidery.co.uk/sportswear/-international-rugby-shirt Gives me a lovelly 404 Page, I have checked my .htaccess file, and it seems standard. Can anyone shed any light as to why this is happening and direct to a solution please?
ayz1
Add .html on the end https://www.kentishembroidery.co.uk/sportswear/-international-rugby-shirt.html
Dirty Butter
Note - The dash before international would indicate this product title has a space at the beginning.
Kentish Embroidery
I have tried adding the.html on the end, the software just removes it., not worried about the dash...
ayz1
You don't need to add the .html in admin it is added automatically so if you go to https://www.kentishembroidery.co.uk/sportswear.html on your website and click on the product it appears with the ,html on https://www.kentishembroidery.co.uk/sportswear/-international-rugby-shirt.html . Kentish Embroidery
However, thats not whats being added by the system for the SEO link ....
ayz1
Your seo link is correct. It is working as it is intended. If you add a product e.g. Red Widgets your seo path would be red-widgets and the URL (the link from your website) would be www.mywebsite.com/red-widgets.html
Kentish Embroidery
So why is my system not adding the .html? The SEO link should be correct, however it's not. If I added the product you said, the SEO path would be [category]/[Product] No .html on the end..
ayz1
In admin in the Custom SEO URL Path * box the path SHOUD NOT have .html on the end. The .html is added to the link on your website automatically.
Kentish Embroidery
So full circle, why is this not being added.....
Dirty Butter
Take a look at the results in your sitemap.xml file - you will see the .html correctly added to each product. I went to your homepage, clicked on sportswear, then clicked on the shirt - and as expected, the url ends with .html. Somewhere in the inner code workings, perhaps in seo.class.php???, the .html is added automatically.
ayz1
Your website is working correctly. If you add as I said earlier Red Widgets as a new product the SEO path is automatically set to red-widgets but the link on the website if you were to click on it would take you to red-widgets.html
Dirty Butter
Line 50 in seo.class.php appears to be where the .html is added.
Kentish Embroidery
SO why am I getting so many 404 hits?
