Payment gateway virtual merchant 500 error on response

Hello,

Virtual Merchant recently changed their domain to https://classic.convergepay.com/VirtualMerchant/  but i see no updates on the extension plugin.  My cart successfully processes a transaction (I can see the amount being charged to my credit card) but on click on the "return to shopping cart" button i get a 500 error page.  If i refresh the page it takes me back to the shopping cart with an "order placed successfully but it is pending until processed by the credit card".  on the back end i see the order as pending and in the history log i see it as "processing".  Anyhow, the order confirmation is never sent because the order is still "Pending" therefore i cannot use the shopping cart :(

Any suggestions?
