vidmarc
I'm with 1&1 hosting. Any suggestions?
keat
You'll need to purchase a https certificate, and then I guess ask 1&1 to apply this to your domain. I'd imagine 1&1 will have SSL as a purchase option.
vidmarc
Is this something I should do? The checkout area (NoChex) is secure.
keat
It would give your customers a greater feeling of security and trust when buying from your site if it was https. Also, Google will soon start to penalise none https sites. I guess also with the new data protection changes coming this year, it wouldn't be a bad thing to buy. 1&1 offer ssl for £7.99 and then £23.99 per year after. i.ahmed
Google will effectively start to mark sites that aren't HTTPS as not secure, so it's definetely worth getting regardless whether NoChex is secure. " Beginning in July 2018 with the release of Chrome 68, Chrome will mark all HTTP sites as “not secure”. " Source: Google
kwickcut
when you go to purchase a ssl cert you do not need to spend 100's to be safe you can get cheap ones that will do the same thing but wont have all the bells and whistle. you will need to create an rsa then send it to the cert company then they will send you the ssl cert and bundle cert.. this is the place i got mine. they have all different companies and all different prices. just remember its the encryption the higher the better prices start at 5 bucks a year to 100's a year https://www.cheapsslshop.com/ i get nothing for this post i am not affiliated with them just found a good deal and seen your post and thought it may help if not allowed please delete kwick
keat
You can buy an SSL for not a lot of money. I'd buy the one from 1&1, that way, they will be responsible to configure it and apply it to your domain.
