Noodleman
When Chrome 68 is released (in the next few weeks), it's going to flag all sites without SSL as insecure to end users, thus isn't going to be great for business or customer confidence. havenswift-hosting
An SSL has been a must for ALL CubeCart (all e-commerce) sites for many years and hopefully store owners will finally start to see how important this is. The old belief that if your payment gateway was external, you didnt need one was always wrong. Any site that had an admin login or especially where customers had the ability to login and leave personal information should have had an SSL for many years. The fact that Google (and all other browsers shortly) are doing this shows how seriously they take it
bsmither
I would like a brief explanation how a shared IP address can have many SSL enabled stores on it. I need to get up to speed on that.
havenswift-hosting
SSL originally always had to be installed on a dedicated IP address but this problem was solved with SNI https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Server_Name_Indication which now allows multiple sites on a shared hosting IP address to have their own SSL certificate. There are still some benefits for a site to have a dedicated IP address.
