Globally rename labels?

Recommended Posts

I just installed cubecart to day on a test site... (thanks for the very simple bug free install by the way!) and was looking around for something like a language file where I could globally change the display of the term "Manufacturer" to "Artist"?

Actually, this isn't as important for the Admin side, but we'd really like that change on the customer's views and hope we don't have to dig through loads of modules to make the change.

Which brings up another question... is there a "customs" folder that can be used to store changed .php files, etc. so that when upgrades are done we can compare the new files to those in the customs folders? Or do we have to do that manually?

Welcome Lynne in NY! Glad to see you made it to the forums.

In admin, Languages, click the Edit icon of the language you wish to change. On the next page, select Catalogue from the drop-down selector. In a few seconds, there will be a list shown. Scroll to the key 'manufacturer'.

Depending on the version of CubeCart installed, you will prbably need to click on an area just immediately to the left of the text entry box currently showing Manufacturer. Clicking there will turn the box white and allow you to make the change.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. Changes are databased and will survive upgrades.

CubeCart's upgrades are "discreet whole-cloth". Changes to core code will be lost. So, take notes. Folders and files added after installation will not be overwritten.

Sweet! Thanks for the quick response.

Just got out of a meeting with my biz pard, and will experiment with this more tomorrow.
