I am having issues with this.

The first part of the installation is ok. The extension installs and then enrolls into Paypal. At the close of the paypal process there is a "return to cubecart link". Clicking on this trys to return to the store but sits there (with the rotating browser icon - Chrome) and times out with a 503 error. At this point the entire web server has gone dead, Debian 8 is still running and Apache2 still appears in the process list.

restarting Apache2 (service apache2 restart) brings back the web server.

Trying to access the extension kills the web server again

Odd. I wonder if it was just a network or request glitch. Does it work now?

Is there any "comparison" information between this and the "PayPal powered by Braintree" that I'm currently running?

It's fairly similar. Braintree is being targeted towards larger enterprises now.

PayPal Commerce gives you more granular 3D secure control and alternative payment methods such as PayPal Credit, Giropay, Sepa etc. I gather the rates are better too but please check.

Thanks - I think I may install it and see if there's a sandbox version I can. have a look at. I have a copy of my site on another, dummy, server that I can have a play on. I know Braintree also did GooglePay and ApplePay (although they're still on my "ToDo" list). Do you know of any way of installing either of these on Cubecart?

Thanks for the help

We don't have a sandbox version I'm afraid. I don't think the integration supports Google or ApplePay either. I don't know if they are considered competing wallets?!

I suppose they are really, but I would have liked to offer them all. Anything that makes a customer's life easier to purchase stuff is always a good thing!

I'll give it a go when I have a few minutes (but I'm on holiday soon so it may be a few weeks) and report back.

I'm not sure that offering more choices makes anyone's life easier. Rule one: don't make me think.

If you have a good payment method available, why offer more for the customer to choose from?

Because in some countries people have a strong preference to alternate payment methods like iDeal etc and cards are not popular.

I'm running into the same problem as the original poster. I install the commerce plugin, connect to my PayPal account and when I click the button to return to CubeCart, I see the "Sign up or connect" login screen flashing. Attempting to go to checkout shows:

Error: cURL Error (22): The requested URL returned error: 401 Unauthorized
Response received (401 - Unauthorized)

Seems like it's not staying connected? I tried with each version from 1.2.11 and 1.2.8 all with the same results.

@LHansen normally we require a technical support plan for assistance but we can make an exception for PayPal Commerce as we have an obligation to maintain it and look into technical issues. Please can you email [email protected] with access to your store and I will have a look at this for you.

Hello Al, I am also unable to get PayPal working either.  I keep getting this error, is it just broken or am I doing something wrong?

Request Sent (cURL) - https://api.paypal.com/v2/checkout/orders/
Error:cURL Error (22): The requested URL returned error: 422 Unprocessable Entity
Response received (422 - Unprocessable Entity)

Hi,

I am trying to add paypal to my site, but it just will not set up!

I have been adding from the lightning wizard, gone through and signed into my paypal account through the settings, but it just will not save any of the login data, and I go back to the same blank setup page asking me to add my paypal account details.

Is this any closer to being sorted, as I am not able to shift any stock at the moment due to this! 🤔

Thanks,

Jacob
