Xampp - Failed to create .htaccess file for Search Engine Friendly URL's

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

First of all I am on a Mac !

I hope you can help me as I am stuck with this issue. I am sorry, if this topic might have been discussed somewhere within the forum already, but I could not find anything related to my problem.

I want to work on skins, I installed downloaded the newest version of CubeCart, then downloaded Xampp - I have setup a database, all fine so far. But - Now I am stuck, please see screenshot.

When I click on "Admin Control Panel", I am getting the message: Failed to create .htaccess file for Search Engine Friendly URL's. Please create this file in the stores root directory with the following content.

Okay, then I have created such a file called .htaccess and copy the entire content into a text file and name it .htaccess. Of course I put it into the root directory.

Even after stopping and restarting the apache server, it does not work at all and I have no more idea what to do. I was searching the net for an hour and could not find any proper solution for this problem.

Please can you help me ?

Thank you and best regards,

Berny
