Does the name of my website put you off

"Devil Princess.com" it does bother me sometimes that I should never have called my website what I did. I like my online store, but the name of my website puts people off. I fear they may think I am into some sort of devil worship. What do you all think?

I can't change the name, have too many tracks out there, so that is not an option.

Thank you.

While you were trying to be exotic with the name, it does conjur up a more mystical image. It doesn't put me off but you are in the business of selling a product and I would go there simply to find out what you were up to and not to buy essences or perfumes. Your url should contain something of what you are selling like princessofessences.com

Princess of Essences, I like, but I am trying to conjur a mystical image as well because I make up these little bottles of magic with essential oils, to heal, attract, calm etc. You are right about what I want to portray, I need to get the message across that I sell smell, lol, but seriously, what kind of impliations await if I change the name, and how hard is it redirecting traffic from one website to another, I have heard some grim stories about lost tracks. One of my affiliate friends came up with The Devilish Scents, maybe my advertising should read Devilish Perfumes? I welcome all your suggestions, you guys have been doing this a lot longer than I have.

Thank you all that replied, you have given me some inspiration, and I have some new ideas. (Finding it hard to get too sleep at night now.) I know the name does not sit right with some people and it is a little devilish, but its what I am about, devilish perfumes, I create some of the most wicked scents out there, and I sell the most luxurious perfume in the world, I will be working on something new and of course I will be using cubecart.

And as Donald Trump says, "Don't be afraid to toot your own horn when you've done something worth tooting about."

With all due respect, you may have to get beyond your own choice of vernacular

about yourself or your products.

When I first met my wife, I thought she was cute, so I said so. My notion of "cute" was all good, but her notion of "cute" was not. I wanted her to like me, so I found other words to describe her. Now, I could have talked and talked, attempting to convince her otherwise, but why? The word struck a nerve in her.

If you detemine that your past choices are having a negative impact on your sales, then either you have to live with it, ditch it...

OR (and this would be my choice) keep your current site, roll up your sleeves, then set up a second site with your existing products and a new domain name.

Hey, I enjoyed looking over your site, very interesting. The rose avatar is a very sensual symbol, btw, I like it.

I agree with most of the advice you're getting here. Also, "Princess of Essences" has very mysterious connotations all on its own - a great name, I'd grab it while it were available.

There's nothing wrong with having a separate site with a different name. Put links on every page to link the two sites together; web-crawlers will follow the links and you shouldn't lose much that way.

Good luck ;)

:P

I think it can do. Someone emailed me a few times asking if Devellion was an evil company because the logo has a red halo.

... Of course it is completely evil, scamming and untrustworthy but I told them the otherwise. (sarcasm) :D

I don't think there's anything wrong with it (but perhaps that's because i'm not the slightest bit religious ).

In fact, one of my favourite site names is viciouskittens.com, which is slightly similar in that its a slighly nasty (?) way to describe something that is usually very sweet.

I'm only 23... perhaps your site name might appeal more to younger females. What is your target audience?

All that aside, i don't think it conveys the meaning you intended. If you wanted something mystical, perhaps would have been better to get a URL with (for example) "fairy" in the title.

You could always grab a new URL, change the name of your site, but keep the old URL forwarded to the new one. Then gradually people would learn your new URL.

P.S. mysticalessences.com is available, which is precisely the impression you said you wanted to give people!

Estelle.

I was just about to recommend mysticalessences.com too, but estelle beat me to it. :D

Keep something in mind, while there are millions of people in this world who like porn, the majority do not. And because the porn industry is notorious for using less than clear domain names, people will not click some things that MIGHT be porn. If that's the case, you are potentially losing LOTS of people. I think two nearly identical carts on two sites selling the same things, but marketed differently would serve you MUCH better than staying where you are or trying to move to a new URL.

Once again, thank you all for your comments, I am going to change the name and I have a team of real sexy men (brooky and co...hahahah) taking care of the shop for me. Brooky if you are reading this, could you please tell me which one of these plans to go for so I can register the new name?

My webhosts

I will tell you all the new name after I register it, of course I would love to share it with you all, I really would, but I want to keep it a secret for now. Want to do one of those ribbon cutting ceremonies.

Love and Blessings,

Devil Princess.
