  1. BSMITHER,

Thanks for taking a look at this.

I have never done any file work inside of cubecart.

Looks like I might need to sign up for a service plan as much as it pains me to work with folks in GMT Time Zone.

I might well mess things up more than help anything.

Funny how now that the program is free I start having issues after years of no problems.

Thanks for letting me know it is a more in depth problem than I was wanting.

    Regards,

    Ralph

  2. BSmither:

Cubecart Store Home Page displays fine when selected off my website. In outlook, when I click on any store links on homepage it goes to this.

    Here is homepage link:  http://www.northwestjigs.com/shop/

Once a heading is selected I get.

The website cannot display the page

     HTTP 500

    Most likely causes:

    • The website is under maintenance.
    • The website has a programming error.

    What you can try:

    Refresh the page.Refresh the page.

  3. I have been a faithful Cubecart User selling on-line for over 4 years.

Got some calls today complaining of issues with my store.

From the Admin Panel storefront is open and homepage looks fine.

Literally no other pages than Cart Summary and News are loading when selected.

I am afraid of the current status.

Where  do I go from here, seeking advice.

So many years of reliability has been enjoyable but I guess the party might be over.

  4. Havenswift Hosting:

The first line of my posting was the comment from one of my clients stating the lack of a "from" in the canned e-mail for orders was causing difficulties with his G Mail account.

I use SMTP for all my personal e-mails and have set up accounts using those requirements for SMTP Host, SMTP Port , Authentication/ and SMTP user name.

I typically use port "110" versus the (Default 25) showing in Advanced Setting  block of cubecart advanced.

So you are recommending I pass on the old PHP mail that my site has been using and set up a full SMTP account with authentication.

Any comment s on my Port Question.

  5. Hey RR. I noticed that your emails don't include a "From" email address. This means that Google is putting them in my Spam bucket.

You should take a look into adding a "From:" field so that doesn't happen.

    I have gone into Admin/Store Settings/Advanced/  E Mail Section:

    Sending Method:  PHP Mail

    Senders Name: Blank

    Sender's E Mail Address: Blank

    Outgoing SMTP Host: Blank

    Out SMTP (default 25)

    Use SMTP Auth: No

    SMTP Username: blank

    Smtp Password: Blank

Any help from someone would be appreciated.

I am used to SMTP with my personal e-mail account but wasn't sure those were the setting to use for my store.

  6. After your advice , I just updated to latest version of CubeCart and my product options problems went away.

What I have encountered is issues trying to check out and pay at my site.

I use USPS mail options, my shopping cart shows the proper computation and shipping options available.

When I push the checkout button I get a pink highlighted box wiuth this error listed and the checkout goes no further.

" The following errors were detected: unfortunately there are no suitable shipping methods available for your order.

This may be because the totasl weight of your order is too high or we cannot ship to your country.

Please contact a member of our staff for any further inquiries."

again, just prior to checkout the basket shows a reasonable weight and shipping method drop down list looks fine with USPS shipping options.

I have enabled USA and Canada both in Paypal and USPS module configurations.

    Any ideas.

Have submitted trouble call as I got this after upgrading.

  7. Likely a dumb question.

My site is kicking out all the notifications to customers, pending, completed etc.

Is there any way to set up a notification by e-mail to store owner that an order has come in and needs attention.

Checking status numerous times per day seems onerous. for an incoming order.

    Must be a better way.

  8. I was traveling yesterday and couldn't get back to you.

I am afraid you are over engineering this a bit.

I showed you the exact format my user name came from USPS after talking with them.

4 digits, 4 Letters and then the 2nd group of digits

Had no connection to my e-mai or USPS shipping account username which is totally different than this user name was.. When calling they find me in their system with my e-mail and phone number but they issued me a separate user code for the e-commerce which does not have a password that I am aware of. I never entered a password into Cubecart.

I also was glazing over the USPS tutorials you were, they told me I didnt need to do any of that, those procedures are meant more for developers of shipping gateways................. I did not do any testing, etc.

my second call to USPS tech said I should be fine without testing and getting response back from them etc.

All I can say that I was functioning at that point with US Domestic priority and 1 st class, additionally I can ship to Canada with first class and intl priority. My John Doe account at my store has 3 different addresses so I can verify different zip codes change rates and I also have a BC Canada linked to J Doe so I can see rates put out for INtl Priority by just selecting different shipping addresses on my site as the same customer account.

Now setting up FEDEX has proven to be another matter, they want user account and meter # in Cubecart, Fedex says they don't use meter # after this month. I am getting nothing there.

  9. I have pasted in my settings with a few corrections for security. # = digits obviously.

    I am running Version 5.08

allowed zones in shipping module are US and Canada.

I have used a john Doe entry with 3 addresses for testing, my own, an east coast USA, and a BC Canada address show under my log into my store as a customer. I switch addresses and the shipping swaps out to cover the new address or country.

As soon as I select a product I have it jumping to shipping cart as a default and the shipping appears as a charge.

Thats about all I can help you with, I am a novice at Cube Cart but have figured out taxes, shipping and options defaults which were giving me fits when selecting my products.

    Module Settings:

    User: ####South####

  10. I finally have USPS up and running quite well after 2 days of struggling. I called USPS Tech Support at 1-800-344-7779 andf got my Username and password with some clear explanations. I have used USPS for mailing for years personally but this is a specific username for APIS, not the one I use for day to day shipping account..

I just enables USPS by clicking in shipping area of admin control. Check or uncheck what countries you want , I just did US and Canada, both working great. I only enabled first class and priority.priority intl. Get rid of red x's of things you want. Need weights to 2 decimal places on everything to compute rates effectively. I had no cube cart experience and just read help and played with it to figure things out.

Whenever you enable items under shipping save them and then go back to see if green checks are still green, had some problems with finding things red x ed after supposedly setting them to enable.

Make sure you have countries you will mail to active as well. I needed to add in $2.00 handling fee to cover shipping costs to various markets with insurance in most cases. Sales tax had me struggling as well but the light finally came on after making specific tax rule to cover my state situation.

  11. Setting up shipping gateways has proceeded well with USPS site working well with shipping weight input to 2 decimal points max.. Moving on to Fedex as an option and was told by FEDEX Server Info Rep that they will no longer support API protocol at the end of May 2012. Moving to Web Service Client format with 4 input requirements versus just Fedex account # and Meter #.

Has this been addressed in Cube Cart 5 shipping links?
