  1. Those are all very minor modifications. The skin is not based on the standard shipped skins, the global templates are completely re-written from scratch. You are just amending the re-written code, the skin was designed to be flexible.

Feel free to ask any other third party website developer what their opinion is. They will likely say the same.

  2. Cheers Stevie68 nice one.

Hi woostar, please note your skin is missing a required copyright notice added by the skin designer.

Don't worry Robsta, as you can see the site in the process of a make over (only started jut over a week ago) and all the graphic etc are being changed (I only bought the skin for the general layout)... having said that I think it's outrageous to 'charge' for a 'non unique' skin and hide in the terms that copyright notice has to remain.

Anywhooo thanks for your pointers :>

    W.>

The notices of this copyright are not hidden, there are links to it everywhere on the site where you bought it, and in the supplied 'readme'.

The general layout you like is a result of the copyrighted code... it's not just the images that are copyrighted :P

  3. ....today I noticed a separate link for the v.15 to v.16 link and the files in that zip are different than what I originally downloaded. I gather that I am to just upload those 6 or so folders onto my site? There is no readme or instructions within the zip file.
That is correct. To upgrade from 3.0.15 to 3.0.16, just uploaded the changed files. However if you are using a custom skin on your site, there is a skin file update which *may* upset the layout of your store if you overwrite your skin file. It's only the view order template, but you never know! :P
  4. Sorry I really don't like the site. Firstly, the front page is far to wide, enough to turn me away instantly. There is also nothing to entice me to browse further into the site. The site is a little dull, no pretty pictures, no eye catching images of products I might find in the store, or be encouraged to buy.

  5. Thanks,

And I agree that eBay had become too big. I am sick of paying hundreds every month in fees to them. I'm thinking of moving away myself.

Thanks for all of the advice! (and I tried cubecart.org yesterday and they did not allow me to sign up on their forum??)

CubeCart.org closed a while ago. Check out the new Communities link in the directory on CubeCart.org.

  6. just noticed something, the tool you are using gives the same result for cubecart.com too *_* this tool is use less.
It goes to show never to believe every 'helpful' tool on the web :(

You have a line space before every line of text. A space at the very top of the page can be enough to fail xHTML validation.
mmm, it was validating just fine though?....

Anyways thanks for the tip.... i'm not code sassy and had those spaces so when i make changes i can easily find it as it was all separated... but maybe not a good-idea. Please have a look as i think its ok now.

    Thanks

    Antz

Spacing out the page code is not a problem. But a space at the very top can be.
  7. Actually you will find it's usually IE that is the problem.

In this case it's only IE that is displaying 3 products across, whch means that IE is not adhering to a setting somewhere causing this (usually padding or margin).

I've looked at your site in 5 browsers, Opera 9.2, Firefox 2 and IE6 on PC. And Safari and Firefox on the Mac.

  8. I agree with webicon entirely.

Flash intros are pointless. They only hurt your search engine traffic, annoy first time visitors, and you lose customers as a result.

I always move on from a site that has a flash front page. First impressions are everything, would you rather their first impression was your great products, or some animation they have to sit through before they can see what you sell? Ask yourself this.. how many of the big successful online stores have them?

But that aside... index.html will have presidence over index.php, so you could easily use that method as webicon suggests.

Ok, fine, scrap that idea. I am just looking for an edgy template is a really big thing. Not so boring. Use PleaserUsa.com as an example or something that is sweet looking. NOt lamo templates that come with your store. Also, I wouldn't have to interfere with my store because I have it so it is set up with the /shop/ extension. mydomain.com is still free and I would like just a cool intro page then to go there. It doesn't have to be flash, but all of my business cards have www.mydomain.com, not www.mydomain.com/shop. See what I mean.

What can work really well is a mod to create a different layout homepage to the store. Check out CubeCart.org for a different homepage template mod.

  9. PayPal standard payment module does not pass any product information to PayPal. The store handles all the product information.

Why do you think PayPal should have your product code/descriptions?

  11. language/en/lang.inc.php :(

Looked there and not finding it. I'm using a 3rd party skin if that helps.

Look in that file, and search for 'Add to Basket'.

Found 'Add to Basket' and changed it but it doesn't work. This is the skin i'm using if anyone is familiar with it

    http://www.demontemplates.com/digistore-com-p14.html

That entry changes the 'Add to Basket' button on the product details pages. You should contact the author of the skin directly. Third-party products are not supported in this forum.
