Customer not receiving order confirmation

Hi,

I've search the forum for an answer to this and have found others with similar problems but I haven't yet found an answer.

I have just installed cubecart and am doing a bit of testing. When placing an order, no confirmation is sent to the customer although I do receive one. When I change the status of an order an email is sent. The customer can also get a new password.

Any ideas how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
