Sibespace, you will see here when I have cracked this (well, hopefully Jonathan will be cracking it). Still there are problems with my lettering Tool - I saw the tool kind of working on my server yesterday, the problem was things werent being sent to the cart. Now, since I reported this and gave access to everything I see my original developer has been changing the .htaccess file almost every few minutes for hours.. they must be having trouble - I just hope they are not wasting time

I just set up a sub domain and waiting for it to become live as having a 'Test' folder in amongst the files for the main domain was, well - a mistake could have been made with ease.. So, I havent made many changes - just colours maybe but still havent settled on the look of it yet. How would I make it a clone of my live site ? I think that would be the best way to go.

I want to be able to reset the cubecart (test version) back to a certain state each time, as at the moment I am getting revised versions of my tool so I need to test it again from scratch each time - have no remnants of previous version of tool lurking anywhere. This is so I can be sure the whole things works as w hole and not just because it's been cobbled together. SO, I have the latest version installed in a /test/ folder on my main domain - should I ad a couple of products and make a backup of the database and a backup of the whole site? and then after trying a version of my tool just re-instate the cubecart that way to its clean state? so I can try again with a fresh installation ? Hope I'm making myself clear enough here.

The test store will be closed apart from when testing, that is what I was intending. But what do I need to change in the robots.txt to stop any crawling at all ? The last thing I want is people being taken to that test installation.

My developer is about to send me a folder with the new Tool I have been waiting months for, we had a few days where he wanted me to edit everything and do it myself which I was of course not happy about and refused to do.. thats what I am paying him for after all. Anyway, he claims I will be able to upload the folder to my root and after enabling the tool it should all work - no editing but I an skeptical. Would it be a good idea to install a test Cubecart on the same domain, I think my license number should work on the same domain ! that way I can update the test installation each time we get an update to ensure the tool will continue to work, and if not try to fix the test installation if I have problems. Just wondering if this is the most efficient way of going about this?

I did search for that but cant find anything. The checkout is a bit vague, I go through via Paypal and get sent back to my cubecart - the order page which displays the address etc BUT there is nothing to say that I have completed payment - it says 'Processing' at the top which I am sure will leave the customer wondering IF they have paid or still need to pay

Is there a way to make the customer fill in their postal address when creating an account? From what I can see the customer can make an account but has to go into their account to fill this in - at the very least can I force a customer to enter their address before placing an order? ok, as I will be using Paypal I will get the address but I would prefer to have this next to their details in my back office to save me finding the paypal details every time I need to send an order. Also can I have an email verification sent out - I just need to ensure the customers details are correct because of the nature of what I am doing.

The fella from here who was highly recommended to me will be doing my next job - the link above I am sending you to is my Indian Developer. I think he is just having a job understanding that I need things to work properly - I have been messaging back and forth since he started the job (a month after it was supposed to be finished) - I tried to make it as easy as possible by outlining the job Here. The new chap did have a look at the code from the original developer and said he has seen far worse - it's just that the original chap is approaching this in a 'Unorthodox way' so its seems to me he is not familiar with CC5 but I did make the point several times that this might be a problem for him - he assured me he knew it like the back of his hand so what can I do All will be well soon, I just wish I had known what I know now a few months ago - isn't that always the way though

This is the kind of reply/question I am looking for as I may well miss something obvious.. This is all working on his test version of CC and they have been adding random fonts for testing. It's not obvious what this is as there is no explanation so I do understand your line of questioning. People are buying vinyl signs, so they are entering the size/text etc of what they need - for example you want your domain name as a sign to affix to the inside of the rear window of your car to be read from outside (thats what the Reverse Cut is for). The sign size is to give an idea of the final size - so if you want a sign to fit inside a certain area this is what you try to get right. Basically this is for someone wanting a pre-cut set of vinyl lettering for them to apply themselves - I am trying to cut out the back and forth emailing from customers - once they have what they need they see a price and send it to the cart and pay. The idea is I then get the information and complete the order, the thing is I cant see any of the order detail in the back end. Quite why I have to keep going through and pointing out the obvious to the developer is beyond me

I did disable them, and changed it as you said and it looks good. I didnt realise I could change them in that way.. doh. Thank you (feeling silly now). Now, what else - I need to send a list.

Hi all, My developer is almost there with my Lettering Tool job. Here is the link to the tool. What problems can you see? The prices I am setting in the back end, for example 11 characters at 30mm should read £9 but as you can see it doesnt.. The chap just got back to me and told me that the default exchange rate for the default currency should be 1.0 but I see no way of changing that ? I removed everything else currency wise apart from GBP so why would the exchange rate matter ? I can send admin details to anyone wanting to explore the back end - the last thing I want is a Stale Mate, with him saying One thing and me not being able to make it work because of something I am doing wrong ! Stuck

I have sent you a PM Toucan. Another thing - I am at the end of my Rope now with this freelancer, I cant find a forum or such to get advice about this situation. I wont go into detail on here but will be looking for someone else for my next job if I can find someone to do it within my budget. I do hope to open my shop whilst I am still young enough to handle the work.

I'm going to have to settle for something that just uploads an image and some text if I can get that, it needs to be linked to the cart though otherwise how can I link the image to the order ? I do have a preview for the Lettering Tool but dont have the module yet so I still have no idea how they have done it. 'Least Intrusive' and 'Core FIles' - one good and one bad. the last thing I want is to break either of these when upgrading CC, after all the whole point of these is to make life easier for me and the customer. So, I need to look for a jquery uploader for CCv5 is that right ?

I still have not been able to open my Cubecart as my developer STILL has not completed my 'Lettering Tool' for people to enter text for their vinyl sign, font, color - size and add to cart. I want him to make an 'Image Uploader' for me as I want to open a Personalised Gifts business (well, the business is running but still no website) - I need the customer to be able to upload an image and text they may want also on a Mug for example but there are no ready made modules (from what I can see) like there was in V4.. frustrating. I am posting here hoping someone will have seen a Module ready to be purchased - I want to run this on my own server and have full control, I am aware there are hired versions but I want to pay Once and get on with is. Everything else with CC is great, it's just this lack of tools thats holding me back.

All done. It does seem to be a lot faster now - probably seems that way as I was used to the slow version.. But thanks for the info DB, that did the trick. I am finally on my way to seeing something tangible for my efforts

After my recent problems my host has suggested I create a new database as that will be placed on a new database server - this should sort my connection problems according to them. I'm ok with this but where do I find the database details in Cubecart? Where I can enter the name etc of the newly created database?

No, I have not been given any valuable information. A Support Member was given access to my Admin as requested - he added a few products and left screenshots as proof on my server. He had no such errors, of course.

Got it.. When browsing server for the image the link was missing a '/' at the beginning - I add that and it works I have a Date Although saying that, some of the categories that do work are missing that slash.. hmm. Will try firebug.
