Should it look like this: As when I add a new product the 'Weight' field is still blank ! I was expecting 0.4 in there as default ?

Yes, I did remove them all - we found rogue 'Lettering' products under category numbers that no longer existed and I removed all of them via admin. I see what you mean now..doh.. Set the default weight to 'X' and anything that I don't change the weight for will be this default - so the 'Lettering' products would all be set to this default weight value.. ah. Will get onto this now - this could be the answer

Unless I am missing something, or looking on the wrong place (entirely possible). In the CC_inventory I have all of the products listed - so-far they are my Mugs, and an application tool (Squeegee) which have weights associated with them (0.4 and 0.2kg). There are no 'Lettering' products listed, here's an image. so surely if I add a default weight in the Structure it would affect the other products ? oh, by the way - I managed to get my activation key for FlashFXP

I don't mind having a standard weight for any 'Lettering' product as it will still cost me a minimum to send it ! So if I can add a default weight for those the that would be great - I will look at that right now. The code is not encrypted, it IS readable fortunately. ... ah, but there is no 'Lettering' in the inventory - so no where to add a weight from what I can see Yes, I see exactly what you mean now - cant do that..

I need to sort this out as it looks awful - it ONLY happens with my 'Lettering' Products: Here is the full screenshot. How can I stop the item image thumbnail (as that's what it is) appearing over the price/quantity? Hopefully its just some small code changes in a file, but what and in which file ?

Looks like I will have to find another way of getting around this problem - it will take weeks for any changes from them.

Thanks Master, and of course Brian for your help. Although I wouldn't know where to start with your directions master - is that 'Command Line' stuff ? (scary). I did it in the end by making a backup of the database from within Admin of my 'Live' store - used Filezilla to download that to my Mac (it's in the backup' folder in the root). Then uploaded this backup file to the backup folder of my 'Test Store' - then from within admin (of the test Store) went into 'maintenance' - 'Backup' (first tab that opens) and click the Green 'Refresh' icon which restored it. Now I have a cloned site (for the time being). Happy

Excellent - done, and the new: global.inc.php is showing how the 'Test Store' was left. Now I need to work out (more like be told) how to replace the 'Test Store' database with the backup I have of the 'Live' store Getting there

Fantastic, it took me a few hours to get FireFTP to work in the way I wanted but I am there. The 'Test Store' loads up but all of the links in the Nav menu point to the 'Live Store' ! I am assuming this is because it is using the same database ? Could you please remind me which file from the 'Test Store' I need to replace in order to use the 'Test Store' database ? Is it: Includes/global.inc.php ? I still have the original 'Test Store' files in another folder.

I set up a 'Test Store' for testing the new CC updates with my custom software 'Tools' but now I am at the stage I am at I think it would be prudent to clone the 'Live' store. What is the best way of going about this? I dont really want to download the entire thing and re-upload it again as my connection is painfully slow (it would take days). I used to have FlashFXP which allowed me to transfer from Remote Site to Remote Site, its a windows application and since I am not a windows user I haven't used it for years and have lost the activation key but have asked for it to be sent again. Assuming I get this key and boot into windows to use it again I am wondering? (or find something else which will allow me to transfer like this). What would I have to move over (if not everything) - also I assume I just back up from the Live Store (database and files) and restore them to the Test Store.. could it really be that easy?

.. so it's not just a case of a small modification in the database maybe? or a snippet ? The Developer who made this is not on my Christmas Card List.

I'm hoping it can, can't see how to set that though. I cant go into 'Products' and set the weight as I can with a Mug as these 'Lettering' products don't exist - and they won't until somebody buys one and by then it will be too late Not sure if you have been following my situation, it's not as straight forward as I would have hoped - the developer who made my tool went about it in an 'unorthodox' way

As some will know I have an unusual situation. I need to be able to sell Mugs AND Vinyl lettering (and other products once I have worked this all out) - I can use the 'Per category' Shipping Method but that way if somebody buy's 2x Mugs they are charged 2x £4 which is unfair. (I can charge for a Lettering product though - good for me) With 'Shipping By Weight' it is much fairer on the Mug side of things BUT I cant find a way of charging for the vinyl lettering as there is no where for me to add a weight for this product (as the products themselves are generated as they are purchased - they appear one by one if you see what I mean due to the nature of the way my 'Lettering Tool' was created). If, somehow I could add a default weight to any 'Lettering' product I could work this in a way that's fair to both myself and the customer - any ideas? I hope I have made myself clear..

ok, I think I have done everything listed above - I will be working on my Store this evening so will be able to see if everything is working as I hope - I am confident. Thanks very much again for the continued help - this was the very reason I went with CC because of this forum

ok, I think I know what happened - originally when I got the first attempt at this tool it was displayed at a different address.. actually, I just found the old email - it was this: http://greyprint.co.uk/index.php?_a=template&module=lettering Then as things 'Progressed' the address of the tool page changed so maybe these are the old installation ? As I do not now have anything as Category 2. Does this mean I should go and manually delete each of these cat 2 records in the database? I can see that also cat 16 was used for this at some stage ! - delete these aswell?

I realise it's not a very clear image but everything in the database on the right apart from the top one is an instance of the 'Lettering' tool: As you can see on the left (In CC Admin) I only have x5 as I deleted the rest. Thanks DB - I hadn't realised I had to go to the 'Structure' - I will find that now (remember - I am new to this but want to learn). Oh, and when I select 'View All' (in CC Admin) nothing changes.

Excellent, I am happy with the above but before we go on: In the CC_inventory table every instance of the 'Lettering' product has a 1 in the featured column. BUT even though I have removed all of the 'Lettering' products from the 'Product Inventory' in CC Admin (I left x5 for testing with) I still see EVERY SINGLE entry in the database since Day 1 when the first version of this tool was installed. So, I don't mind going through manually and deleting them all but wont they re-appear each time someone uses the tool? and require me to go into the database again to hide each one? I sorted out the CC_category fix and they are not appearing in the 'Featured Product' box any longer I may have miss-understood you but how do I make the default '0' (Other than going through each one and changing it from 1 to 0) ? Due to the nature of the custom 'Lettering Tool' design I have another problem to overcome..lol - it's fun Every time someone uses the Lettering Tool to make a sign the text they have used appears in the Products list - with thanks to the knowledgeable forum members we have gotten over displaying this category BUT.. Now I see that by default these 'Products' are enabled to show in latest products - I dont want this so how could I disable this from happening ? I could of course go through each product, or delete them all but every time someone uses the Lettering Tool again I would have to go into admin and stop it appearing in the 'Latest Products' feed - this would become a problem. IS there maybe the possibility of a Code Snippet for this ? I want my other products to appear in the 'Featured Product' box - oh, and I just noticed a 'Letting' product appearing in my 'Popular Products' box

Could somebody tell me where to look in order to find the width of the sites 'Documents' - I need to use the a document which displays on the homepage to get some info across and I think it would be a lot nicer to use an image in order to draw attention to it. SO I need to know the width of these documents. Rather than just tell me, I need to start learning how to find out things like this for myself - Where would I expect to find this info? .. I'm using the Mican skin.

Good Lord, it only WORKS ! I want to understand how though, I will re-visit this first thing today. I can add things to the Cart that's what I mean by working as well as the products appearing in the Nav bar most pleased - Thanks Brian.

There must have been other characters that I missed as just pasted the original code in again and its much better - that >Lettering menu item that did nothing has gone. So just adding the above 'php_code', worked My Mugs are missing from the menu though..lol.
