  1. Fan-effin'-tastic! Good-lookin app!
  2. I think it looks pretty good, except for your "Advertise With Us" That banner has no color, as opposed to the rest of the site, and it appears cut off at the bottom. I'd consider a more appealing banner if you really want to generate some ad business. Good luck on your e-business!
  3. Specifically, in your shopping cart's root directory, look in the "language" folder, then in the "en" folder, and search for: 'homepage' => "Homepage", Change the text in quotations ("Homepage") to whatever you want it to say, save the file and upload it to your server. If you use another language than English, follow the same principle of course in the other languages (de, es, fi, etc.).
  4. In my experience this is not the case; shipping is usually not added unless you refresh the cart in step 4. I have tested both with PayPal and with mail order numerous times. There have been many posts in the forums about this, and several bug reports with additional comments over in the v.3 bugs board. Brooky has evidently been working on the problem for a fix in 3.0.3. Also, I saw a post the other day in which it appeared to me that you, Robert, had had a similar problem, found a workaround, and invited others to PM you for a fix. I sent a PM and never heard back . . . I must have misunderstood that post entirely <shrugs> This workaround is indeed very clumsy, but beats the hell out of taking orders without the shipping included IMO.
  5. I don't really care if my carts have links to CubeCart at the bottom - but I do believe that the developers deserve to be paid for their efforts. Accordingly, I plan to purchase a license once I get everything running correctly (as of now, shipping charges are the only big problem). But I want to make sure that I understand everything correctly: I can use multiple carts with only one license, so long as I leave the links, right? Sounds more than fair to me . . .
  6. Hi Spanjis, I think it must have been in: background: . . . no-repeat; I know that earlier versions of netscape did not support anything but tiling in table cells, as opposed to the body tag - this quirk must have been inherited from Mozilla in the latest versions of Firefox and Opera. I had to get rid of the no-repeat and adjust the size of #topHeader until the background image displayed right regardless of tiling. Thanks for your willingness to give me feedback on the problem
  7. Denver Dave, to each his own, but I am of a mind with Sir William - who needs images for every element? I've only done one CubeCart so far, but I tossed the images . . . except for a custom page background, header background, shopping cart icon and the product images, of course. I think it is a nice look. The only advantage to images would be rounded corners or odd shapes. IMHO, the rectangular appearance of box titles on my site and the two by Sir William are just fine! 8. Well, Homey (I mean it in a good way ), the reason I haven't done them as they come out is that I installed the cart through fantastico in cpanel, and 3.0.0 is what my provider has there Seriously, I did not know whether I had to go through multiple upgrades, that's why I asked, so I really appreciate the info. I'm off to read the posts at Vrakas' link now, but before I go, I have to say the questions that come to mind now are, since I downloaded the 3.0.3 files (and yes, upgrade to 3.0.1 instructions are there), I am wondering do I have all the right files to upgrade first to 0.1 then to 0.2. Hopefully I'll find the answers at Vrakas' link. Thanks again, guys :on2long:
  9. not very professional try something like 'Please bare with us as we improve our site for you future enjoyment' Also u have spelt welcome wrong, u have wellcome Better be careful if you use evilHomer's advice here - "Please bare with us" means please get naked with us. May not be too professional either, depending on what you're selling, I guess "Please bear with us" means more like, "Please be patient." AGTH EDIT: ------------------------------------------------------------- OK, I just looked at your site, looks good. I really like the Tolkein-esque header! I notice you used Homeboy's phrasing - maybe appropriate since you're selling breastplates, gloves, leggings, etc. So long as you know that you're asking people to "git nekkid" with you :)
  10. OK, that's what I was wondering . . . if the image were pulled from the database by php and dynamically generated on the page, I wouldn't have an answer. If this is a button image in your skin's styleImage file, there may be a relatively easy answer. The only way I personally can produce a rollover is with a javascript. It is a simple javascript. You can probably learn about a script, by searching the web, that will do this for you. Then it's just a matter of getting the pieces in the right place in your files.
  11. Not using iframe . . . everything is done in stylesheets and html to get that look. You can see any of the code you want . . . just let me know which code you want to see. ns and ie have their quirks - backgrounds in table cell elements used to be parsed differently by the two, but I don't know any of the quirks in opera and firefox.
  12. You should be a little more specific: Where is the image, what is the image, what type of mouseover effect are you looking for?
  13. You're right, none of the browsers are happy anymore when you put an unqualified number there - I had just added that width to help them parse and align the image, but forgot the pix designation. Don't know if that will solve the problem, but I've corrcted the syntax . . .
  14. OK, well, thanks again Spanjis . . . I thought those two (or at least Firefox) behaved like netscape May take awhile to fix then, as I don't even have either of them on my machine any more. Here's where the problem will be: #topHeader { text-align: right; height: 300px; width:750; margin-bottom: 10px; padding-right: 9px; padding-top: 0px; background: black url(../styleImages/backgrounds/topHeader.gif) no-repeat; } I had the "fixed" option as well on the background attribute which ns didn't like. I'm going to try two more changes as a shot in the dark to see if I can make the oera/firefox probs disappear. If you see anything here that you know they won't like, suggestions welcome . . .
  15. OK, I used Netscape, and found what freaked it out. It is now displaying correctly in Netscape Can you (or anyone) confirm if I've fixed the display in Firefox and Opera? Many, many thanks for your effort. ;)
  16. Tahnk you for the heads up. I haven't tested other browsers; I'll work on it right now ;)
  17. The only real problem I'm having with CubeCart (shipping charges) hasn't been fixed yet (evidently will be with 3.0.3). I am assuming I still should upgrade from 3.0.0 to 3.0.2 anyway? Well, I have a few more silly questions, because I just don't want to assume anything else: 3.0.2 contains two readmes's for upgrading: "3.0.0 to 3.0.1" and "3.0.1 to 3.0.2" Since I am going directly from 3.0.0 to 3.0.2, I would assume I should use the latter instructions, is this correct? Anything else I should know about or be wary of? Besides making my own skin which lives in its own folder, I have made few small changes to calc.php, index.php, lang.inc.php and orderForm.tpl. Thanks, Mark
  18. I guess it helps the fellow psychologically to vent on here. Or not. Like you, I've never been able to appreciate the point of such outbursts; if you're done with it, dump it and go away, and STFU about it. I've never had a shopping cart before. I compared Agoracart, OS commerce and one other on the day I decided to go with Cubecart. The only reason I might have for any regret is the shipping charge difficulties I've had (am still having a few). At least there is a community here with some friendly sorts. Then again, there are so many mods for sale here, it does kind of make one wonder if the program itself might have too many weak areas. At any rate, I'm looking forward to getting my cart going, and perhaps to making a few new friends and aquaintances on the forum :)
  19. Thank you for the compliment, roban. BTW, I enjoyed looking at the East Hampton Arts & Cultural Council site. Nice blog, and thanks for the news items on New Orleans. I am a native Louisianian, a Texan by transplant. All of my family, save those who sprung from my own loins, live in Louisiana. It is chaos and utter devastaton on the coast right now. Many thanks to everyone who contributes to helping these victims in any way whatsover.
  20. BELLISSIMO! Hand Painted Glassware Does it load a little faster now? I changed the overall bg image to a gif last week, and have now changed the header image to a gif also, with transparency for the black. Twisted made the comment that the original images loaded too slowly. I'm pretty happy with the simple look of the site now, and it is mostly complete. I'm waiting for a couple of bugs in the cart/shipping/checkout to be resolved before putting much time into inventory and such, and haven't begun to optimize for search engines, etc. yet. So whaddya think? Is it an eye-pleasing look, and does it load fast enough? TIA Mark
  21. If you know HTML and know how you want this to look, a way to do it would be to edit both templates in skins/*/styleTemplates/, i.e., "index.tpl" and "cart.tpl" In each of those templates, you would put your table between the division tags for the division with an id of "topHeader." Edit the properties of "topHeader" in skins/*/styleSheets/layout.css HTH Mark
  22. Hi Gul, probably the reason no one has helped you is that they do not know the answer, or if someone does know an answer, they either hae not read your question or do not have the time to answer. I do not know the answer, though it should be pretty simple. I tried a couple quick things this morning, but they didn't work. Have you compared the relevant files? If this is very, very important to you, maybe you could work at it and find your own answer :)
