  1. Hi there, I'm new to cubecart and I hope this isn't a stupid question....

what I need to know is this: is it possible to offer discounted prices to only certain members? for example when they log in they are given a different status to non selected members and get different prices?

I have been tasked to create a store for a rock band and they want their fan club members to recieve special discounts when shopping.

    is this possible?

    Thanks

    Mick

    Yes....

    check out the http://www.cubecartforums.org

    under CCv4 Commercial Mods

    group discount pricing...

You can however also recommend that this Rock Band Client make up a special CODE

and you enter the special code in the coupon section of CC Admin and set the discount they want to give their fans

then you just give out that coupon code to the fans to use when they check out.

the coupon manager in CCv4 is very well equipped

  2. Login to your store admin

look to the left down near the bottom

    File Manager

    Manage Images

    Upload Images

    Click Upload Images

    upload all your alternate images

once done uploading alternate images for a particular product

Click View Products from the left side menus under Catalog

find the product you want to add images to

    Click Manage Images

    a popup will open

    listing all your images

    find the images you uploaded

    and click ADD

do this for each alternate image you wish to add to this product

    once done close the popup

    do this for each product...

    hope this explains it

    Kinetic

Hi everyone, a quick question concerning the image gallery for products.

How do you configure it? I can't seem to find where I enter/upload other images for use with the gallery. Obviously I have one up, but I would like more, how do I create a gallery (Implementing light box)?

    Thanks everyone

    Dev01

  3. if its on the web people can get it

no matter how you protect it

in this case contacting the thiefs HOST and letting them know they are stealing images (since yours is watermarked with your site name)

the HOST in most cases will shut them down

no right click scripts are easy to beat

you can also prevent hotlinking with htaccess see this blog for how

    http://kineticartist.blogspot.com/search/label/hotlinking

but when they copy the file and upload it all you can do is contact their host

  4. When I have a client that wants/needs order notification emails sent to multiple site admins or store owners I recommend they create a forwarder

like [email protected] (where "mydomain" is your actual domain name)

then from Cpanel start adding actual email addresses to forward any mail for [email protected] dont make the [email protected] an actual box it will just fill up and max out

    [email protected] >> [email protected]

    [email protected] >> [email protected]

    [email protected] >> [email protected]

forwarders can have multiple emails to forward to this is the actual proper reason for using a forwarder

then set CubeCart Admin to use the [email protected] email address as the admin email

that way when an order comes thru ALL admins on the forwarding list will get a copy of the one email

if you use something other than Cpanel Im sure you can find a way to set up multple addresses to forward one fwd email address to multiple users

it would be nice however to be able to set CubeCart to use multiple emails right from CC Admin

not sure if you can use a comma to separate multiple addresses in the text field but the method I described above does work perfectly

    Kinetic :)

How do I set it up so CC sends order emails to more than one email address? I couldn't find an option for that anywhere. Thanks
  5. On the 3 other PCs check to see if javascript is enabled and if so see what is checked under Advanced javascript settings

if the tree is getting disabled because of js settings there would be no way to ensure users have js enabled or that if they do, that they have the proper advanced settings set

if the issues isnt a js setting in Firefox Id submit a ticket to Support since you have a paid license

personally I stay away from the dhtml tree expanding menus and turn it off because somebody somewhere isnt going to be able to use it (doesnt degrade well)

easier to just turn it off and let users click into a top level and surf thru the subcats normally

    Kinetic

I have the stock dhtml expanding menu turned on. In Firefox on one Windows machine, it works. In Firefox on my Mac, it works. In IE it works. In Firefox 2.0.0.14 on three other pcs it just shows the top level links with no tree. How can I make it uniform across the browsers, and does it radically slow down the site a lot having it on?
  6. OPen

    skins/YOURSKIN/styleTemplates/boxes/siteDocs.tpl

    FIND:

    <!-- END: a -->

    ADD AFTER:

    your external href html

    example:

    <a href="catalog.html" target="_new" title="View my catalog">Site Catalog</a>

this will make your catalog link the last link in the SiteDoc line

    this isnt "Object" oriented php

its straight html within the X-Template system and editing tpl or template files

    Kinetic :)

    Hello,

Can anybody tell if there is a way to add a link that is in line with the doc links at the bottom of the page, but when clicked will open another browser window, or load a different page in the brower. I have a printable catalog .html file that I would like to link to the site, but I would like it to appear on the same line as the site doc links.

I am fairly good with php, but don't know much about abject oriented php.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  7. Nothing is better for SEO than writing good category descriptions and product descriptions, home page content and additional resource content.

    CONTENT is KING

and as each page can have its own titles meta description and meta keyword list THESE should all be based off the CONTENT for the page in question

    now if you dont listen

and if you dont write keyword phrase rich content

all the SEO tools in CubeCart wont help you one bit...

If you DO listen and write good content and dont stuff keywords

it wont do you a bit of good w/o getting your site some qualified, RELEVANT BACK LINKS

meta tag info does not provide search engine traffic

    BACK LINKS do

1 way back links are the best from sites that are relevant to yours

And lets say you have listened and followed me up to this point

YOU WILL starve and your site will go broke

If you do not advertise in other areas!!!!!

relying on search engine traffic to make your million dollars will just put you out of business! It is but ONE method of marketing!!

put ads in newspapers, relevant magazines &

EVERY SINGLE email you send out better have a spiffy tag line and a "visit my store www.blahblah.com"

watch out for companies promising the moon for your hard earned money to get you in the top 10 rankings

99.99% of the so called SEO companies out there are total SCAMS

and even if you do all this

and you havve listened and busted your arse

and you get people visiting your site

IF the SITE isnt done professionally and induce people to TRUST and whip out their credit cards

your store will still die a horrible death...

Pay to have a custom UNIQUE skin, pay to have a professional guide you thru the pitfalls of e-commerce and SEO

you will soooo make up for it at the end with a lovely site thats easy to look at professionally done

    and easy to navigate.

CubeCart is just a tool and like fire which is also just a tool

in the wrong hands it can bring death to your venture

in the right hands, knowledgeable hands it can be a lovely, easy way to sell goods or services online

e-Commerce is NOT for the weak nor timid or the broke

it takes money and knowledge to do online sales properly and do it right with your customers best interests at heart

I do hope this has been helpful and terrified you utterly

    good now you might listen...

    Kinetic :(

  8. do you have spambot /Flood Control set to YES in Admin > General Settings?

this should stop your tell a friend from being abused...

and what version are you using NOW?

posting that with your post is required for anyone to really help you

CCv4.1.1? Ccv4.2? the Release candidate? which?

  9. I have seen this issue with users/customers using MSN Butterfly and Microsofts engineers couldnt or wouldnt give me a reason why login and register text links would be disabled or in the case of MSN butterfly NOT visible at all

In Vista this has to be a security issue in the browser and would suggest you try tweaking the vista IE7 security settings specifically try messing with settings having to do with cookies

The more people who complain that their site is not usable to customers using MSN buttefly and now Vistas IE7 the more apt they are to fix things...

One method Ive found to get around it is to place a flash swf for login register and logout your account but this requires extended flash knowledge

You can also try placing link images instead of text links by modifying your /skins/YOUR SKIN/styleTemplates/boxes/session.tpl

see if that bypasses the freaky IE7 crud

NOTE TO ADMINS: This issue really needs to be looked into to see if it is a issue with the way CubeCart builds its login and register links.....

and testing for CCv4.x.x REALLY should be done in IE7 on XP and Vista, Firefox on PC and Mac, Safari on PC and Macs, IE6 on PC's and others!

because if our customers cannot login or register how can we make sales!!!

    Kinetic

I just installed CubeCart v3 and this is the first time I've used this shopping cart. I like it but I have discovered a huge problem that nobody seems to know about. Here is the issue.

In Internet Explorer 7 the hyperlinks "Login" and "Register" do not function. The links show up but it is if they have been deactivated. So, I started to test things. First thing I looked at was if those links worked in Firefox and Safari and wouldn't know it they do. At which point I realized it is a problem with IE 7 so I thought maybe it was some security settings. So I tried everything and Nada. IE7 refuses to let these links function. That was while I was at work today. My work PC has Vista and IE7, so I asked a couple of my co-workers to try the site, sure enough it didn't work for them either (they too have Vista and IE7). After I got home I got on my PC there and fired up IE7 and sure enough the links Worked! Now, here is the kicker the PC I work on at home has XP Pro with IE7. Then I decided to try it on another machine I have at home here which is running Vista with IE7 and once more those links didn't work. I have come to the conclusion that CubeCart v3 when displayed in IE7 with Vista as the OS doesn't function properly, but no matter if it is XP or Vista Firefox and Safari display the page links just fine. The problem is I have no idea how to fix this. Has anyone else had this issue? I really would like to use this cart system, but if I can't find the answer to this I guess I have to settle for osCommerce. If my customers go there on their Vista machines this will surely get us a flurry of support calls for something we have no idea how to fix.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  10. I would suggest you try the alternate methods of the SEO module

your host probably doesnt support mod_rewrite

or you havent uploaded the .htaccess file properly

    Kinetic

I have a big problem with my categories in my cubecart. When clicking on one of them, the browser can't find the the category page "webpage not found" and is redirected to a html page named for example cat6.html. Please help me!

    Many thanks

  11. then somewhere down the line your modding removed the call for the cartNavi.inc.php

which is located in the includes/global/cart.inc.php

    require_once "includes".CC_DS."boxes".CC_DS."cartNavi.inc.php";

    $body->assign("CART_NAVI", $box_content);

or something is broken in your includes/boxes/cartNavi.inc.php

I would also contact the mod author for Support...

  12. In CCv4 all language macros are editable from within admin

simply login to admin and click Languages > EN > Front End Phrases > Boxes > Information Box

if there is an entry for the customers online Im assuming you have a later version than I do or a mod simply add in your tag "Online Customers" or Customers Online Now

if there isnt a field for online customers then

and you can edit the /skins/YOURSKIN/styletemplates/boxes/info.tpl

but in either case you should be able to sort tis out easily

and by the way its always helpful to post the version you are at like CCv4.1.1 or what ever

    I have the CC3 instructions,

which are good, they work, except where do I find the new equvilant of the lang.inc.php file, i need to add "online customers"

if you goto www.superbows.co.uk - you will see in the information box on the left, what i am talking about, look at the number with out the word before.

    # STEP 3

    #################################

    OPEN language/en/lang.inc.php - CAN'T FIND THIS IN CUBECART 4.2.2

    FIND about line 1402

    $lang['front']['boxes'] = array(

    PASTE AFTER

    'customers_online' => "Online customers",

  13. it would be easier to resize those images or better yet make new thumbs for them the right size to fit in with the others

to do that make the thumbs in photo shop or any image editor you have crop them to the right aspect ratio of the other thumbs and save them with the current thumbs file name(s)

and upload via FTP to the images/uploads/thumbs folder

this would be easier than deleting your products and adding in these 2 first then re adding all the others

    Hope this helps

  14. Root SECURE Public HTML Folder to store: /store/

Absolute SECURE URL to store: https://secure.classicteesetc.com/store

    should do the trick

as it shows in the example in Admin

what you have makes no sense at all

you didnt even include the https:// you just had http://

you do not include your cpanel acct name and even if you did you would have to include public_html folder too...

All ROOT secure Public HTML folder is asking for is the folder name where your store is located and if your site was in public_html (site root) it would just need a /

Root SECURE Public HTML Folder to store:

    e.g. /store/ (Include Trailing Slash)

    Absolute SECURE URL to store:

    e.g. https://secure.domain.com/store (Excluding Trailing Slash)

Hi all. I tried adding an SSL Certificate to our site, so in the Documents & Folders section I typed:

Root SECURE Public HTML Folder to store: /classict/store (classict is our cpanel username)

Absolute SECURE URL to store: http://secure.classicteesetc.com/store

And now whenever I try to access http://classicteesetc.com/store/admin it redirects to https://secure.classicteesetc.com/store/adm...hp?&ccUser= and says the page cannot be found.

Did I just screw EVERYTHING up? :)

  15. Check all your settings in Firefox

    Tools > Options

    java and Javascript enabled?

    Accept cookies from sites checked?

Do you have any 3rd party firefox add on that might inhibit an editor?

it should work fine in Firefox

make sure you have javascript enabled and java

IE will crap up your code when using FCK

    Hi All

yes Jave is enabled just logged into admin again with firefox and the editior does not come up for product description, also noticed while in IE there should also be an editior on the admin page for the offline settings but again there is nothing there in firefox... i'm using Firefox 2.0.0.14 any other sugestions as i really hat IE and from what you guys are saying its not best to use it anyway...

    i'm using vista not mac

  16. No problem Alan

CCv4 code is soooo much nicer even with Martins typos and inconsistencies

more "Object oriented" You can make big changes with little tweaking

At first I was a little peeved with the new code but after getting used it it was just about me being so used to CCv3 ways of doing things

I can now see the value and elegance of the way CCv4 does things.

I simply cannot wait to see what CCv5 has in "store" lol for us

    Kinetic :)

Beautiful! I was also wondering about this.

    Thanks for the help!
