Guest oloonat
Hi all I'm a newbie with (the so far excellent) Cubecart and we're not live yet. I installed 3.02 into www.mysite.co.uk/cubecart/ and everything was working fine during testing. All our products are loaded, priced, and ready to go. Then it was decided that the store's url should be www.mysite.co.uk/shop/ instead. So, I connect to our server and just renamed /cubecart to /shop thinking it should be ok. BUT, now I can't get in to /store/admin and I just see a 404 error. The /shop message of 'we're not live yet please come back soon.." has been replaced with a 404 too. Help! What can or should I do here? I haven't renamed /shop to /cubecart (yet). All help gladly received. Thanks in advance.
roban
I guess you found out you can't just rename and change the directory without some serious editing. My advice to you would be to change back to cubecart and do a permanent 301 htaccess redirect from http://www.mysite.co.uk/shop to http://www.mysite.co.uk/cubecart. That way if someone enters http://www.mysite.co.uk/shop into their browser it will automatically redirect to http://www.mysite.co.uk/cubecart. Do a search on this site for 301 redirect or Google it. It's an easy fix and search engine friendly.
Guest oloonat
Thanks, roban. Since we've never been live the 301 redirect won't be necessary but I do think its a neat little fix. Thanks indeed. Suppose I should have thought things through but, as they say, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I haven't applied any mods from the vanilla install so wonder if I could reinstall CC3 into a new directory and start again. The MySQL database should still be usable so if there's a way to link it to the new cubecart direcory then presto I don't have to re-enter all the products. Think I'll hang fire before I do anything, need to think this through. If I work out a solution I'll let you know by posting. Thanks again. roban
Just edit the includes/global.inc on the new install to reflect the database, username, password and path info.
