MySQL Error with the Random Products items

I did a clean install of CC 3.0.3 and got this error, at first intermittently, then it stuck for good. When i say intermittent, it came and went over a period of 5-10 mins or so before being permanent. The error is attached (image) below.

I've fixed it by commenting out the include section in index.php. This works for me as I don't use the Show random product on the site. This is the bit i've commented out:

/* include("includes/boxes/randomProd.inc.php");

$body->assign("RANDOM_PROD",$box_content);*/

Can anyone shed some light ?
